An internet-based campaign was started over the weekend to try and inspire the 3,000 fans to bring a sock to east London and wave it in the air as a taunt towards the Hammers.
But Gibbs added: “It’s a tough place to go without trying to encourage them even more, so I would advise against that personally.”
