IMO player of the season is someone who has played well over virtually the entire season which rules out the likes of Roberts - although he has made a great impact since joining.

At the end of Feb I intended to vote for Jem - but Pearce was massive for us in March and has also chipped in 5 goals to Jem's 3 - so on balance I have gone Pearce.

Voted Pearce because he really has been good. Gorkss gave us the biggest turnaround but I've come round to the view that Pearce has been marginally the better of the two, he's also home grown and you can see how much it would mean to him.

Pearce
Gorkss
Fed
Karacan
McAnuff

Would be my top five. Harsh on Cummings, Ledge & Kebe. Honourable mentions to everyone who's played from the squad except for KhumaLOLo, and, if I'm honest, Mullins.

Federici for me.

He has been the best keeper in the league this year. Having a rock solid centre back pairing in front of him has obviously helped enormously, but he has been exceptional when called upon, and has made a mockery of the goons who thought he should be cast aside at the start of the season.

It's a tough choice - I've gone for Pearce because he really hasn't put a foot wrong all season. Feds would have been my other choice - he's been great again and really kept us in games with some spectacular saves. I love Kebe - but he's not been ever present and you never know if he's going to be up for a game when he starts. Cummings has made great improvements and Karacan should get an honourable mention too. But if this team gets us to the Premiership - they all deserve plaudits for helping us get there imo.

Elliott

Bit awkward that they've missed out Noel Hunt from the nominee list... Poor fella!

Erm, no they didnt - have another look. Also on the same page it says (Jem Karacan) "came third in the poll last season - will hope to go one better this time around".

I have very little argument with anything above. But I am one of the 6 voters for Roberts. The whole season changed when he turned up. Player of the season needs to have done something really special, and he did.

Fair play though to those who voted for/argued for the guys who were with us all year. I have no row with you.

I am also one of the six. It is not only his cool, calm and collected play; it is not just his deadly finishing; it is the way his leadership and confidence have raised the level of the entire team. His exuberance and joy just shine through even though I can only listen to the games live and watch the highlights a few days later. I just love the man. Without him in the team we would have gone through a win-less drought during Feb/Mar.

There are more than just 3 players this year.

Jobi has had a magnificent season. He has really come on as a captain and represents the club in a fantastic way. His performances are more consistent and he is now a real goal threat. Much improved over last season.

Leigertwood has been a rock again. Don't forget that the Royals went on an amazing charge after he signed last season and have, with the exception of an early season blip, done so again. This isn't down to chance. It's the Leigertwood effect. He bosses the midfield.

Noel Hunt has worked tirelessly all year round and, since the arrival of Jason Roberts, has found his goal-scoring boots. He is totally committed, puts in an incredible shift and is also a bubbly character to have around the place. His off-field work for the club is also first class. My only criticism is that Noel is not as clever on the ball as Shane Long was last season. He doesn't check across players chasing him inviting the foul as Shane and Doyler do so well.

Tabby has been fantastic. A bit-part player all season, covering in numerous roles on the pitch. He is ever-reliable and the team always gels whenever he plays. An unsung hero. Just needs to score a goal.

Shaun Cummings has had a great year. A solid, quick, tricky full back who can stand his ground against tough and pacey wingers. Has improved an awful lot since arriving at the club. So much so, that it almost goes unnoticed and we take him for granted.

Ian Harte has been miraculous this season. We know he lacks pace and this was exploited by the opposition early season. However, apart from Peterboro's third goal against us recently, Hartey has been phenomenal. His dead-ball specialism could still light up the Premiership (though he may be overwhelmed if he returns there). He has been instrumental in creating so many goals this season and is really enjoying a late career highlight under BMD.

My vote goes to Shaun Cummings.

Got to be Federici for me. The games I've seen of Reading this season, they haven't domin8ed enough on the pitch, but Federica has saved you lots of times this season. I recall an outstanding display at home to Cov. if it wasn't for 'Feds' you would have been beaten.

How many is that, NFA, and how many in person rather than highlights on the telly?

How many times have you been to the Bridge this season?

Absolutely bloddylutlely plus one. As I said on another thread the way we are scoring goals from all over the pitch is critical to our success. We are not dependent on one (or three) players like, say, Saints are. And that statement in itself fails to give credit to Feds and the defence, or indeed to the bloke who used to manage Slough.

(Hmm. Does that blow my theory that Roberts is responsible for turning our season around? If so, bollocks. Being inconsistent is half the fun of being a footie fan  )

i can understand Gorkss getting votes, but id like to ask how in gods forsaken name Ian Harte has not got 1 vote, if it wasn't for his set piece delivery we would be nowhere near the top 2 this season.

As for Alex Pearce, he's been good but carried by a classy centre back beside him.

Gone for Pearce, but it shows what a great team we have when it's so tough to decide. Crazy that a player of Kebe's class can't even be considered!

It has to be Gorkks for me. From the 1st minute of the first game he played he has been a leader at the back and an absolute warrior for us, I still can't believe QPR let him go! A master stroke from McDermott.

He is up there with the best CB's I've seen at this club and deserves a ton of credit for taking the games by the scruff of the neck and turning our defence from one of the weakest in the league prior to his arrival to one of the best. Just look at our stats with and without him this season, speaks for itself.

I understand the votes for Pearce but the reason he is doing well has a lot to do with Gorkks which I think is being overlooked, especially when you consider Pearce's performances pre as post Gorkks arrival.

Would Gorkss have done any better with Khumalo beside him?... don't think it would have made a massive difference.

Think Pearce's goals give him the nod, plus the fact he has played every minute of football in the league this season, great effort.
