Re: Gylfi on sale for £6m

Watching the televised game yesterday I thought how well Siggy would fit into the Tottenham team, given their new-found free-flowing style of play. Either them or Arsenal. I wouldn't expect to see him at either of the Manchester teams or Chelsea though. Much though I'd love to have him back, I think he has outgrown us now.

Tottenham have VDV who is probably better and are interested in Hazard.

Arsenal... well, it would be at the expense of Ramsey. Can't see it myself, they have three of the best young midfielders in the world already and there isn't much point trying to shoehorn a fourth in. Maybe if Wilshire's injury is worse than feared.

Personally, I think he'd be better value for money than Sneijder, who Man United are chasing, and he could also fit in at Chelsea (though that would mean Mata playing left wing).

I can see him being a decent replacement for Liverpool and Chelsea as Gerrard and Lampard age and those teams need to replace their goals from midfield.

Probably a touch early in his career to go that high just yet. Then again, if Liverpool spunked millions on Carroll...

Liverpool really isn't 'that high' though, he'd be competing with Adam, Shelvey, Henderson, Spearing, Downing and Bellamy, all of which he is better than

If there is one player anywhere that I would like us to build a PL campaign around it would be Gylfi.

I have always consistently said that in all his years at the club Sir John’s greatest mistake was to sell Gylfi for a paltry 7M.

One good thing though is that reputedly we have a 40% sell on clause over 7M so if we were to bid say 10M for him and waive the sell on clause this is the same as another club bidding 12M. Something like 10M net might just tempt Hoffenheim - unless a much bigger offer comes in from elsewhere. Hopefully our new Russian overlords share my opinion of his potential.

Getting £7m plus a sell-on for a player with 1 year in the Championship = excellent business. A shame we had to sell but you'd have struggled to get a bigger fee even if he'd had another 20 goal season in the Championship.

He'd be better off staying at Swansea than go to Liverpool. Why on earth would he go there?

Arsene Wenger has been in contact with Brian McDermott about Gylfi.

And TMD laughed at suggestions he could fit in at a Liverpool or an Arsenal

Brian also laughed, telling Wenger, "only good enough for a bottom half side"

Odd story but I'd love him to go to Arsenal, I do think long term he'd fit in perfectly there.

If he is going to move to a bigger club probably best it is Arsenal as we never get any points off them anyway. Would be gutted if he is still playing for Swansea next year and helps them to avoid second season syndrome!

Hoffenheim coach Markus Babbel is expecting Gylfi Sigurdsson to head back to Germany from Swansea over the summer, with a clean slate awaiting him.

The Iceland midfielder was deemed surplus to requirements by former boss Holger Stanislawski and was allowed to link up with the Premier League outfit in January.

A short-term loan agreement was put in place, and the 22-year-old has been a revelation at the Liberty Stadium.

He has netted six goals in 10 appearances and scooped the Premier League Player of the Month award for March.

His progress has not gone unnoticed back in Hoffenheim and Babbel says he is keen to offer Sigurdsson a second chance to prove himself in the Bundesliga.

If I were Gylfi I would say I did not want to go back after the way he was treated (went from being their player of the season in 2010/11 to being left out completely earlier this season).

He is in a strong position now as they can get a good price for him and so cannot really afford to call his bluff and let him rot in their reserves. I very much doubt he will be playing for Hoffenheim next season.

This. He was voted their player of the season and he only started 13 games. Despite being voted their player of the season, he was constantly benched in favour of some fancy Brazilian. He then got shipped out on loan for no reason at all. F*ck Germany, he should have never moved there.

Would love to see him back. Classiest player ever at the club. This is why I for one would like resolution to the TSI deal. Then we can ask questions and see what investment, if any they are prepared for.
