paultheroyal Thing is for every one person on here who moans about a gimmick like this then 10 people like it, scarves today being an obvious example!

Scarves was new, fresh, interesting and looked far better than envisaged. Clappers have been done before, never boost the atmosphere and frankly annoy most sensible folk.

LOL @ thinking waving scarves is fresh and/or interesting. Have you never been to a single football match before ever?

Fresh and new - I like it!

It is a shame RFC have to come out with these suggestions but that in itself tells a story about our fanbase and atmosphere at the ground. Thing is HNA is not the voice of Reading FC and more than not will happily play with a clanger, clapper, rattle or whatever they will put on your seat!!

Rev Algenon Stickleback H I wasn't fussed either way about the scarves, but who is it exactly who thinks these stupid clapper things will improve the atmosphere?

I mean, seriously, who at STAR sat down at thought what we really need is some crappy gimmicky bit of nonsense that's been shown to be a total failure once already?

Not STAR - the club. STAR are just helping distribute them.

OK, who at the club thinks this will be a good idea?

Will these clappers feature an advert on them by any chance?

We usually get to the ground quite early. I will be removing and hiding as many as I can from those seats around me.

I'll help distribute them - anyone got an industrial sized bin I can chuck them all in?

Star should refuse to distribute them.

However they are a weak organisation so they won't.

Banging seats > Clappers

This is how terrible an idea it is. Just stick to organising the coaches!

If they could do that properly it would be a start! STAR are a frigging joke and only ever rear their heads getting involved it Sh!t like this. All the important issues that you want a supporters trust to be involved in they go missing.

As has been said the atmosphere has been amazing the last few games because of what is happening on the pitch, we don't need to manufacture an atmosphere we have one!!

Rant over.

Are you perhaps alluding to safe standing, heavy-handed stewarding, filming of fans, reforming national football policy, the ineffectuality of the FA, the cancelling of buses on matchdays, or maybe something some may see as more trivial but fans get upset about none the less like hoops going all the way round the Reading Home shirt? STAR were actually contacting the people who could do something about it and that includes the club, the stewards, MPs, the police. I could go on further... price of tickets, access for the disabled, equality fairness... but that's not the way HNA? rolls so just forget it.

You seem to think just because STAR does this, they can't do anything else. Perhaps you should find out more about them before you make sweeping statements. I wouldn't take the word of anyone on HNA? about it.

Hi Sarah

Why can't a member of STAR update their part of the forum on here with things like this then? Keep the supporters informed with what STAR are doing regarding things that get raised? Otherwise many of us, myself included, wonder what it is STAR do do for us, as we rarely get any feedback. You have a forum on here and it would be good to receive regular feedback.
