Serious suggestion or not?

The Cech incident wasn't meant, and I struggle to remember other dirty tackles he's earnt a reputation for? You'd need a handful to justify the tag of nasty player.

Try...

Royal Prince
Richard Carpenter can also be added to the list for ending Chris Casper's career.

Beat you to it

Has nobody mentioned Scholes yet? Not a consistent offender in the league of some perhaps but quite happy to put in a bad tackle when needed.

Roy Keane once described him as the nastiest player he'd ever played alongside, if I remember correctly.

Michael Essien was responsible for a few studs up knee high tackles in the week's before the Hunt/Cech incident. Funnily enough Mourinho didn't see them!

If you're going to label a player a nasty player surely they need to have several of those challenges, not one or two and a highly televised accident with a goalkeeper. There's no doubt Hunt is physical and committed, but in the same category as Roy Keane, Richard Carpenter? No.

Disagree-in fact watch him and you'll see that he hardly ever actually tackles the player.
Agree on Scholes and for the oldies how about Johnny Giles and Peter Osgood-neither thought to be hard men when compared with Bremner,Charlton and Hunter or with Ron Harris but had a habit of leaving that foot in.
Surprised that nobody has mentioned Chris Riggott particularly for the season-ending challenge on Dave Kitson.

Can we build an all-time dirtiest 11? With players in their proper positions (as far as that is definable).

Norman Hunter is out for shitting himself when Franny Lee unleashed the windmill.

Souness was never afraid to kick people whether he needed to or not.

Who remembers Chopper Harris and Billy Bremner? Glad to see Dennis Wise is on the list. You can also throw in the likes of Mark Dennis as well. There was a Spanish player Goegoecheia or something similar - known as the Butcher of Seville iirc. I sometimes wonder how long any of the real hard men of the game would last in the game now. What happened in the 60s and 70s is a long way behind us. Near on every team had at least one thug plating for them. Oh yes, you can add Paul Davis of Arsenal, Ben Thatcher (Man City) and any Millwall player between 1930 and 2005.

Kevin Davies and Duncan Fergusson up front.

Drunken Duncan is a shout. Not sure about Kevin Davies though. He's more of a clumsy oaf than a nasty bastard.

Probably true, but his fouling record is so stupendous that I think he's worth a nomination.

He committed more fouls than any other player for three consecutive seasons. Then he was knocked down into second place by John Carew but, undeterred, he roared back with a Premiership record haul in 2010. And then beat his own record the season after.

He has committed the most fouls in Permier League history, and he'll probably end his career having picked up the most yellow cards.

Seriously. No-one going to back this up?

The ONLY time I ever saw the Main Stand at Elm Park go completely apoplectic. He was utterly despised for years. Even his brother, Paul, got grief by association years later.

If Ben Futcher (Paul's son) ever plays against Reading I fully expect him to be given the bird as well.

Cantona has to get an honourable mention, just for that kick.
