Terminal Boardom Who remembers Chopper Harris and Billy Bremner? Glad to see Dennis Wise is on the list. You can also throw in the likes of Mark Dennis as well. There was a Spanish player Goegoecheia or something similar - known as the Butcher of Seville iirc. I sometimes wonder how long any of the real hard men of the game would last in the game now. What happened in the 60s and 70s is a long way behind us. Near on every team had at least one thug plating for them. Oh yes, you can add Paul Davis of Arsenal, Ben Thatcher (Man City) and any Millwall player between 1930 and 2005.

Andoni Goicoechea, the Butcher of Bilbao. The man who every time he played against Maradona, made it his mission to snap him in two. Only played him twice, first time, he put him out for 4 months with a leg injury which was the catalyst for Maradona to start taking Cocaine. The second time, resulted in a bout of kick boxing after Goicoechea spend the best part of 60 minutes trying to break Maradona's other leg.

Most of Revie's Leeds side were dirty oxf*rd. I've seen others mention Bremner and Hunter but the worst was Johnny Giles, a wonderfully skillful player who chose to be a thug for the hell of it. It was often said of that Leeds side, and this is where they differ form Colin's bunch of cloggers, that they had more than enough skill throughout the side to beat most teams fairly, they just chose to clog for the hell of it.

That Reading Youth player who raped that girl.....I mean, there's nasty in terms of behaviour on the pitch, then there is raping someone. Anyway, him.

... indeed the very same - saw him get his marching orders at the Manor one evening for wifully getting his head in the way of 'Postie Joe' Cooke's swinging elbow.

.... he was not averse to giving it 'a bit of a dig' on occasions.

... and I've no idea why big Dave Shipperley left such an impression on me - he only played 18 or so games for us - could have sworn it was a few more. :?

Jerry St Clair
Jerry St Clair Ron Futcher

Seriously. No-one going to back this up?

The ONLY time I ever saw the Main Stand at Elm Park go completely apoplectic. He was utterly despised for years. Even his brother, Paul, got grief by association years later.

If Ben Futcher (Paul's son) ever plays against Reading I fully expect him to be given the bird as well.

I thought this actually happened. Bury? Lincoln??

I`ll jog your memory here Ark. Roy Gater centre half for Bournemouth in the sixties, Complete oaf but the most dangerous individual I have ever seen on a football pitch.
