I look back to that Watford game at home,
how many of us who sat through that, could see where we are now!
Absolutely amazing

From Saints web - nicely summed up.
http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.p ... 3-The-Wake

There was no cheating
There was no robbing
There was no mugging

Reading are a good team. Their defending, movement, counter play, energy levels and agression get the job done. They withstood our pressure and hit us as soon as we literally took our eye off the ball.

By contrast we are too casual, too slow, too into one touch too many and the clever pass.

Rickie was the best player on the pitch, but there was far too many screw-ups in midfield and our defence is f**king shocking.

Reading are the Champions, and over 46 games will have earned it.

Us ? We have some serious sh*t soul searching and work to do in the next few days to prevent this season being for nought.

Yeah, just watched Adkins post-match interview. While I generally like him, his "excuse" that they gave 3 poor goals away is ridiculous. Two of those goals were brilliant (especially the second). And their ONE GOAL was bound for Fedders had it not been deflected. Theirs was a lucky goal...

But in the end, I'll be counting on them to join us in the PL and Brighton to win the playoffs. Screw Wetsham and Brum.

FiNeRaIn
PremAddict 3 - ALF - amazing nose for goal. Buh bye Churchie!

why would you even consider having a pop at not only one of our youth players...but also a reading fan on a night like this?

Disgusting the amount of crap he takes.

still working my way through the thread but THIS.

Huge team effort that shows our strength in depth and, in particular, McDermott's strength in deploying the squad available to him to its maximum potential.

I don't want to go to bed, I just want to sit on here, drinking. Just ordered a "He used to manage Slough" t-shirt in my drunken elation. The Goddess only knows what I'll end up doing after another couple of beers.

Is it me, or is this more exciting than last time? I mean this time there is real tension, and then complete elation. Top of the table, with 3 games to go, rather than top of the table nearly all season. 3 promotion challengers beaten away in what, 2 weeks? After the start we had?

Roberts? Signing of the season in any league and my player of the season - it all changed when he arrived.
McDermott? Manager of the feckin DECADE.

As has been said, 1-1 with your closest challengers. Bring on a defender? No bring on a striker to bag two goals and three points. The man is a genius.

Mr Angry Superb management by Brian; when many would have expected a team away from home to bring on a defensive minded player to protect the point, Brian brings on a striker who goes and scores 2 goals to win the 3 points.

Brilliant.

Are you watching Allardyce?? Thats what WE think of the point; we don't respect it - we kick it in the bollox and take the 3 instead.

This my friends is the quote of the season.

That's why we're top of the league.

Footballing lesson to every aspiring manager

The two funniest posts on the SOTON board I've found so far:

"It was a terrific game. The scoreline lies, but that's the way it happens sometimes. I look forward to both teams being promoted and will have no hard feelings at going up in second place to Reading.

However, if WHam somehow overtake us I will have to set fire to a tramp."

and

"Like craap do the [sic] deserve to to win the league. We have not been out of the top three all season. They have just gone a really good run of games that's all. They have not shown me why they deserve to win the league."

Stated like we went on a little 8-game winning run...oh we did THAT too last year and went to the final. hmmmm

Cypry Bloody Adkins asa bad as Allardyce....

Poor goals? Sloppy?

Adkins is a smug, permatanned t0$$er. Total ignorance. Just can't stand the bloke. Not even any begrudging recognition of our achievement at the Club with the best home record.

Eat it Adkins.

Pinched the pic off the banner thread on Club Policies and just ordered it from one of those "make your own t-shirts" websites. Paid a silly amount to get it before Palace and had I been sober would probably have shopped around a bit. Mind you, I'm impressed I managed it given my limited computer skills and alchohol consumption tonight.

Avon Royal When was the last time rolled over and died like this? Cardiff Away?

Always pays to wait until the end of the game before panning the team, chaps.
