Promotion/Relegation Watch

by Friday's Legacy » 14 Apr 2012 13:24

I don't think it's been covered much but Reading took a GIANT step towards promotion to the Premiership last night... A Brighton win at West Ham would leave us with a chance of securing promotion on Tuesday night at home to Forest.

In other news:

- Pompey can be relegated today if Bristol better Pompey's result.
- Charlton can secure promotion to the Championship from League 1 today.
- Rochdale can be relegated from League 1 today.
- Swindon cans secure promotion back to League 1 today.

Two goals in the 90th minute for Pompey. You lucky buggers, but you will be down next week!

Sad for Donny though.

We can still be promoted on Tuesday if we better the Hammers result.

Bristol City 0 West Ham 1
Reading 2 Forest 0

Result bettered - not promoted

OK - it's score bettered rather than result

Charlton only had a couple of hundred fans up there. What a horrid place to gain promotion!

Poor Donny, I remember they played some attractive football not too long ago in this division while picking up decent results, the new transfer policy seemed to thwart that. I disagree with the way they dish out short term deals to any ex-Prem player, but it's still a shame to see any inoffensive club go down.

They should have stuck with Sean O'Driscoll. Instead they sacked him for the inexperienced Dean Saunders. Incidently, Sean O'Driscoll went to Forest as first team coach and they've been a different side ever since.

^ also didn't help when Jonny Oster got long term crocked.

Less than ten years ago...virtually extinct, now a nice tidy little ground and a reasonable fan base

Not the end of their world

....just the dumpage of Chimbonda etc to negotiate, then the rebuild

James Coppinger said today that the club's transfer policy was 'disrespectful to the Championship'. He was probably their best player before the new policy came in, talking sense.

Fair play to him. He signed a contract last summer and then all that crap happens at the club. I just hope his agent has a club lined up for him after that interview..
