Archie's penalty I don't think you can vote against people getting promoted.

If you can, I may lump on Donny not going up

Man Friday How can you put a bet on Reading not getting promoted?

Someone suggested that if you put £8 down on Reading getting promoted, you'd get £100 if they didn't. I don't think that's how it works. Put £8 down and if Reading don't get promoted you lose your bet, only winning £1 if they do...

Can someone help me out here because I'm keen on this type of insurance policy - if it exists.

Just bet on West Ham to get promoted, that way you'll win if they pip us and you also stand a chance of making some money if they get through the play-offs.

11/10 with Sporting Bet right now so lump on £50 and you'll get £55 in proft.

Snowball
Royal Rother Did he actually say the pressure will be very much on us if West Ham win well on Tuesday?

Good grief...

No, he said

Should they win 2-0 or 3-0 on Tuesday the pressure will be very much on Reading and Saints,
one slip and they will be ready to pounce.

That makes all the difference does it? Righto. :D

You TAKE bets ON RFC getting promoted.

That way, if they don't you win money

That seems like a fairly unambiguous statement to me. Your words or not?

A simple yes or no is all that is required.

Have a look on Betfair-they usually quote for things happening and things not happening.
Also on the likes of Sporting Index you could sell Reading on the finishing positions.

^Link to Championship winners 2011/12, Reading currently 1.26 to 'lay' or sell. So if you want to risk £50, lay at 1.26 on Betfair and enjoy a £200 profit if we don't win it.

You can lay Reading at 1.08 to be promoted, so for that same liability of £50, you'd win about £650.

I'm with Finerain and his negativity because I've been a Reading fan and been disappointed too many times.

[negative mode]

WH are on a roll and will slaughter their remaining opponents.
Saints have a relatively easy run in an will do the same especially getting their backsides into gear after the defeat.
We on the other hand will do what Reading do best - totally screw up in games we're expected to win.
Then it will be playoffs and we all know what the means

[/negative mode]

[more probable mode]

Actually West Ham will be doing too little too late and will slip up somewhere again
OR
Saints who are on a

poor run of form will continue to implode.

Meanwhile we'll carry n demolishing teams and will end up auto pro before the end of the season, possibly even winning the title

one of the worse things to happen yesterday was Leicester losing which virtually puts paid to their hopes of a play off place, their game against the hammers a week Monday will mean nothing..but hopefully we will be up by then.

So Leicester are 6pts of the p/os and everyone now thinks their chances of making it into the top 6 are virtually nil.

West Ham are 6pts off us yet people are talking about them catching up

:?:

Does not compute

Think we've now safely avoided a similar situation to this...

Maguire

But it DOES compute. West Ham need to make up 6 points on RFC and they need ONE club to fail (RFC)
but they have the extra carrot of maybe Saints failing. They also have a better GD than RFC

if West Ham gain the 9 points they have no other rivals. They only have to look upwards.

As things stand they could go up with WWL at our expense if we LLL
even one single 4-0 win and two 1-0 defeats, if Southampton lost their 3

Point is, if they get 6-7-9 points they have two teams they could catch and RFC must WD to be sure

1 43 +29 85 Reading
2 43 +34 82 Southampton
3 43 +31 79 West Ham United

Relative to Leicester, all these clubs have a better chance

4 43 +25 71 Birmingham City (Magic Number 1)
5 43 +15 68 Blackpool (Magic Number 3 or 4)
6 43 +10 68 Cardiff City (Magic Number 3 or 4)
7 43 +01 66 Middlesbrough (Magic Number 6)
8 43 +00 63 Brighton and Hove A (Magic Number 9)

9 43 +11 62 Leicester City

10 43 +01 62 Hull
11 43 +07 60 Burnley
12 43 -01 60 Leeds
13 43 -07 60 Derby County

Leicester have to get 6 points to get into contention and then (really) get the other 3 points
(7 points might likely fail) but in their case they have to have the following:

(three of the sides above them have to blow it badly)

(1) Birmingham must lose all three
(3) Blackpool must not get more than WLL and a single decent win might be enough
(4) Cardiff must not get more than WDL
(6) Middlesboro must not WWL
(9) Brighton must not WWW
(9) Hull must not WWW big (but in reality this one won't happen)

IOW for Leicester to make up THEIR 6 points they'll need WWW AND have to hope at least 3 clubs above them "blow"

It's unreal isn't it?

Was just a quip m8 - i don't think for a moment Leciester will be in the p/os and nor do i think WH will catch us.

Still computes

Bookies offer only 33/20 against West Ham finishing in the top 2

Yet you can get 12-1 against Leicester making the POs

The bookies usually know.

The bookies odds reflect the book, not the probability of an event occurring.

But like I said, it was a quip, so please stop trying to bore us all into an early grave

Especially because the 33/20 odds Snowball quoted are actually from Betfair, not a bookies at all. Doesn't look as if bookies are offering prices anymore.

So what he's said is "random mugs on the internet think this... and random mugs on the internet usually know..."
