This has been in the Icelandic media on and off for what feels like MONTHS now, I was surprised when I finally thought to mention it to my friend who lives in Reading and she had no clue. I'd assumed the club would have said something about it by now. It was only an oral agreement for the longest time though, but by Stokie's words he must've made it official now? If so it slipped by me. As for a source, it's in Icelandic and I'm not gonna bother translating (and note that it's from February):

I'm happy to see him come home, he'll be playing for my team so hopefully I'll get to see him a fair bit this summer (as opposed to Ivar, who's a league or two below and clear across the country :/)

Being an old fart, and him being a slightly less so, but still being an old fart...he has always been my favourite.

The OT goal, the Anfield nutmeg, the Sheff U brace...brilliant!

But what I remember most is a non-descript game just a couple or three seasons ago (Scunthorpe I think), faced with an oncoming challenge whilst in poccession of the ball near the touchline....he scooped the ball over the onrushing player, bodyswerved him and regained his own lob......................and some said he was too old!

It was the news we knew was coming, but it still really hurts!

Just want to echo everyone saying he was and is a model professional, a great servant to the club, and a real hero!

I believe he made around 160 appearances? Shows he never held down a regular starting place for too long, but the point is he put in 100% effort in all those appearances! I'm so glad he got 30 mins against Brighton, proving that BMc and the other players still believed in him!

Sorry to see him go, one of my favourite players. A player who always gave his all and always did a good job whichever position he ended up playing in. The 30 minute cameo at Brighton showed he's still got it. Hopefully he'll make a few appearances in our last couple of games so we can give him the send off he truly deserves.

Would be a great last photo. The team and Byrn reunited with that trophy. Full circle. I really hope that is the man's send off. A very loyal servant.

Sad to see him leave, always thought that he was waiting around for a coaching role sometime in the near future. He has been a true professional at reading and I am sure everyone will be sad to see him leave.

Absolutely one of my favourite players ever for all the reasons that everyone has already stated.

To echo what Finerain said, a fine role model as a footballer, a professional and as a person.

This sums up exactly how I feel about Bryn. It'll be sad to see him go and I hope he gets a great send off from us fans.

Simply, he’s an over-achieving seven-out-of-ten man.

If you think about it, he’s really a bit rubbish.
