I think that it's harsh blaming just one individual Schards.

Haven't decided yet as I may already be in Brum for the weekend.

However, what I would say is this:

Bristol to Brum off-peak return £48.40

or

Bristol to Gloucester off-peak return £8.20 and Gloucester to Brum off-peak return £22.00 = £30.20 8)

Don't have to book specifc trains or anything. All routes from Bristol to Brum go via Gloucester.

You will have to travel through Gloucester station, which almost all fast trains from Bristol to Birmingham don't do. You will have to look at splitting at Cheltenham instead, or take the train to Gloucester, and change there for Birmingham.

Still a valid point - had they given us 10,000 tickets then they probably would have gone on general sale.

I don't mind lending you if you're a bit pushed for cash this month. Got a £2 coin on my desk as it happens.

08:41 from Temple Meads gets to Gloucester at 09:33 - leave Gloucester at 09:46 gets to New Street at 10:45.
15:30 from New Street gets to Gloucester at 16:22 - leave Gloucester at 16:42 to arrive back at TM at 17:34.

Cheap day return TM - Gloucester = £8.20 + 2 singles Gloucester - Brum @ £10.50 each = total of £29.20...
