Ian Royal Newcastle would have to be a favourite if they make an effort.
Close call between us and Swansea. It'll basically depend on if either of us can match the price and which convinces him more of its ambition. Swansea not finishing the season strongly. Reading all the momentum of a promotion, where he cut his teeth, where his best mate is, big new investment and going for all the things that show big ambition.
If Rodgers goes to Spurs, I think he'd sign for us over Swansea. I'm not sure he'd be a fit and have enough chance to play at Spurs. They've got a lot of good attacking talent already. He'd have a better bet of playing first team football regularly at Arsenal or Liverpool, of the bigger clubs IMO.
So Arsenal > Newcastle / Liverpool > Reading / Swansea > Villa.
Signing Sig would be the best news since making the Premier League for the first time ever.

urz13 Found myself next to a function room last night in the stadium at about 00:30 when Anton walked past. I shook his hand and joked 'now all you need to do is sign Gylfi Sigurdsson!' He smiled and replied 'we will be looking at him'.

pea I've always thought it was "take it as read", used in meetings when you are assuming everyone there has read the material provided ahead of the meeting so you don't have to go over the content

Royal With Cheese If we did have a sell on clause for 25% then buying Gylfi back at 10 million would surely only cost us £500,000?
Looks like a bargain to me!

If such a sell-on clause exists, Hoffenheim selling Gylfi to another club for £10m would net us £2.5m.
So for us to meet a £10m valuation we would need to pay £7.5m and waive the £2.5m sell-on clause.
Seems your estimate is about £7m out!

Tokyo Sex Whale What is the most you would pay for him now? Assuming we're not going to be silly about it and only spend what we believe he is actually worth - what is that price?
£8 million? £10 million? on a player who has played a handful of top flight games and was dropped at Hoffenheim?
