Congrats to Ben Hamer who's League One keeper of the year for Charlton btw. So much strength in depth at GK here, shame he had to leave but glad to see him doing well.

Other players I can understand not appearing in it, but Federici? I'm sure Snowball can dig out the facts, but wasn't he the best rated keeper back in March (in terms of clean sheets). Pretty sure back then Reading had the second-best defence behind Hull.

Davis doesn't compare!

blueroyals

blueroyals 2 seasons in a row, but likely to be released at the end of the season. Feel sorry for him, we will badly need his set pieces next season unless we're going to be signing somebody equally as good as him.

Can't see us releasing him that quickly.

Why have we not offered him a new contract then?

It wouldn't have made sense to sort contractual issues when we didn;t know what division we were going to be in.

I'm pretty sure that we always have very late contract negotiations. Hasn't worked too badly so far.

That PFA team selection has just made laugh.

Federici should be in and so should Pearce.

As to Phillips he was on the bench against us last month and Clyne did not play this past weekend for Palace

Team of the year : Reading - more points in the Championship than anyione else. That'll do for me.

Players should be rewarded for their seasons efforts by the PFA.

Federici picked up a player of the month award, for a keeper that is unusal so I find the Kelvin Davies decision very strange.

The manager of the season award will probally go to Allardyce for his arrogance and praise he gives to other clubs in the league!!

Precisely. The sum being greater than the whole and all that! I wouldn't worry about it. The players etc will collect the medals that really matter.

^This

Voted for by fellow professionals, right? How many of them will still be playing in the Championship next season?

Onwards.

These things inevitably go to the big names. If sky bigged up Bas Savage enough he'd make it in there.

Yep these teams are all about profile. People vote for Ian Harte because they've heard of him and he scores some goals (not to suggest that he hasn't been excellent for the last few months)

There is literally no way there's been a better keeper in the Championship than Federici though. He's barely put a foot wrong.

Couldn't give a toss about this TBH and I hope our team don't either. There's about to be a big shiny trophy in our cabinet that tells us all we need to know.

I do find it odd that these things are voted on so far out from the end of the season. Things can, and do change dramatically in the last 10 games or so and some players rise to the top in these pressure games. How difficult is it to have the vote and round them all up a week before the presentation?

I think with the way that technology is how it is, the vote will be put back to mid April in future or even later.

IIRC it used to be voted for in the middle of February - now it's the end of March.

In some ways the vote is still a bit skewed. I would have thought that by the end of March we would have got more than one player in.

Anyway. Who cares? Onwards and upwards with the league title in the bag.

No, no there isnt. God knows how many goals coming from Ian Harte set pieces ( another 2 on Saturday if you didnt notice) and part of the best defence in the league. Cant think what more you can want.

Interesting interview with the Motherwell captain on talksport about how player of the season voting is done, how many don't take part, how many openly vote for their mates, openly don't vote for teams they don't like etc. he was suggesting it really doesn't have much value at all

(assuming it is the same here)
