dantheloyalroyal Peterborough 3-1 Reading

Sounds absolutely ridiculous, ludicrous I know. But that was such a poor performance, up against a 'Boro side who played some fantastic football in parts. I think that result was pivotal in bringing the team back down to Earth after what had been a fantastic run of results.

I also think the fans were fantastic after it too. Even though it was a long old trip on a Tuesday night, and even though it was the first defeat for ten games, the majority of those who travelled stayed behind to applaud the players off, chant and sing "Eieieio". I can only imagine that would got through to the players that the fans are fully behind them.

So yeah, a defeat but a significant point in Reading's season. Much like the defeat to Luton in the 05/06 season.

Not a bad call. They looked tired and complacent and it came at just the right time to kick their arses into gear to take on West Ham, Brighton and Saints and beat them.

Leeds away was one of the performances of the season IMO. A superb 'away from home' display

Leeds away, Middlesbrough away, Leicester away all worthy of mentions for excellent performances.

Like Chicago, I'd put Brum at home down as one of the big moments of the season, I think that one really started to put belief into the squad that they really could beat the big boys and climb up the league.

That Bristol City game was memorable for not only being a massive turn around, but just how completely and utterly awful we'd been for the the first 65 minutes or so and that 2-0 scoreline could have been 4-0 with some of the chances they passed up.

Leeds was just a masterful opening 20 minutes, and we should have been 4-0 up rather than just the 1-0, but we completely controlled the entirety of the game. Leeds barely had a sniff.

I've voted for Southampton though, the one where we really announced ourselves to the rest of the division as being the top team, having been so for so long but it not being obvious as we'd had to come through the pack.

Honourable mention to Brighton away too, for the sheer bloody mindedness of not conceding and having to endure all those missed chances from BHA. The stewards there were immense, and really made the occasion too - something a Brum fan commented on on 606 on Saturday night too.

Snowball Stevenage
Great shout! What dross the Cardiff game was, how it possibly got worse against Stevenage still puzzles me to this day but it did. A lot worse. I remember walking out of that game, angry and thinking "the season is over". By-god is all forgiven now!

Another one which perhaps wasn't significant in terms of performance, but in terms of a vital extra two points would be Burnley away. When Karacan scored the away section absolutely erupted! It was a sh*t game, but proves once again that McDermott has built a side that doesn't just play for 80 minutes and then settle for a draw, they go for it all every time.

West Ham away for me.

The WHU win put us in the position to get an automatic spot when the pressure was on.

Just for the fun of it we'll have the championship as well and beat the Saints!!!

I can't help thinking 3-2 away at Ipswich on November 26th was a pivotal moment in our season.

from defeat to winning during injury team (or "additional minutes")

Hammers away, even if circumstances prevented me from being there.

That was the game where I thought "we're definitely going up"

Saints away for the whole day- Amazing atmosphere, from the train-Pubs-and inside the stadium!

Turning point- Home to Doncaster and winning 2-0 ever since then, its basically been all up

I went for this as well - although we'd already had a similar comeback at BC and poked in a 99th minute winner at Burnley, this was the game where I started to feel we could just do something this year.

Like many other people, it has to be West Ham away for me.
My first visit to the Boleyn ground.
An excellent atmosphere, and a cracking result.
The day I dared to believe that we might go up automatically ...

This poll may be declared void if a Birmingham 0-10 Reading scoreline comes in.

2. West Ham away
3. West Ham home
4. Bristol City away

M-U-R-T-Y With the league done and dusted and the final game academic, I thought I'd start this thread now. I'm compiled a list of key results and put them into a poll - vote for the game you think was the performance/result of the season.

Probably a two horse race here between West Ham and Southampton away, but I've included others that were important too.

It's West Ham away for me. The game that saw us promoted, not mathematically, all but - cracking day out too. Amazing result, and the cheek of little old Reading going to the Sham and putting in a performance like that against the world cup winners!

I remember leaving the ground and thinking "this is our season".

However there is a lot to say about the other games on the list too.

What do you think?

i thought we would beat West Ham anyway as they are shit. They were terrible at the Mad Stad and acted like Chelsea thugs kick our players around the pitch (like Leeds) and rolling all over the place. Thought it would be a tight game though at 2-1 win. They may have dominated the first 40 mins, but to have 1 shot for all that domination is pathetic.

For me it was the Soton game as Soton were still getting good results and for me are the best side in the division, with the injuries we had i thought we may struggle especially after a touch Brighton away game, so the 3-1 result and performance was a surprise
