Yorkshire Royal Get Doyle back. Can see it happening too when Wolves go down.

Doyle got relegated with us and again with Wolves, why do you all want him back so badly? He's averaged a goal every 5 games with Wolves in 2 seasons (that's the same goalscoring ratio as Simon Church).

Not only that, but he'll turn 29 this year. £5m? no way. Would take him for £2-3m.

Yeah he had his day. One of the strengths of Reading is their innovative signings and youth players. Signing Doyle again kind of goes against the spirit of things.

He's not the player he was, and we should be looking forward. We're being linked with so many ex-players; the only one I'd really welcome back is Sig.

But maybe McD can make him again into the player he was? I always thought that KD was a confidence player - almost unplayable when confident, weak and goal-shy when low on confidence (in particular, I'm thinking of the 2nd half of the 2007/08 season when he hardly scored a goal). If we could get him for £2million or so, it would be worth it.

He's been a struggling side for two seasons. Not many strikers get that much service under those circumstances.

He's a grafter and a goal scorer. He would be an improvement on Hunt, as much as I like him. But we would also need another striker IMO, someone ideally proven at that level.

Doyle does far more for the team than people give him credit for........he runs the channels, makes the space, holds the ball up, brings others in to play etc - he is basically Jason Roberts which is why he would do well here - with someone like Alfie playing off him. We can't rely on Roberts to play every week in the Premiership

Smack on, plus we need to consider 2013-14 etc

Doyle is better than Hunt by a long shot, is six years younger than Roberts, knows the club, knows its traditions, he works hard and he would be available for not that much money. He's also got a great attitude, very different to Kits.

Why not give him a shot?

Jason Roberts had hardly scored before we signed him and he has been brilliant, so Doyle's drought wouldn't bother me too much.
That being said, I'm not a massive fan of players coming back and id rather we looked elsewhere

Double agreed. I mean, who in their right mind would want Sigurdsson back!

I concur, Think he has the quality still, and I believe Brian would get the best out of him again

Agreed. Doyle was off as soon as he found a Premier League club. Wouldn't sign him personally.

That was only because the Sir Steve asked Mr Hunt and Mr Doyle to do this.

I am sad to say, he is also one of the reasons that we went down due to his freezing on the big stage when the time came and endless matches without scoring.

He jumped ship to the PL and good luck to him. Notice that he is now more of an Alfie type role in that he comes off the bench more often then he started at Wolves. A dear friend of mine does not rate him very well and was telling me that we should take him back (!).

The bigger picture is we have a FINE team that have brought us another bite at the PL. That team should be rewarded and allowed to play, not scarificed for a "legend" name coming in who in all honesty was more of has been.

To bring him back would mirror the return of Mr Kitson and Mr Little who love them as we may ( well Little ), it did not work out so well.

No he has had his day in the sun with us, it is time for the club to distance himself form him and move on.

I also heard that Marcus has said that he would "love to help us" and if that means come back, then again no. Mr Federici was so good this year, he should only be displaced when he wants to move on. I cannot remember, but was it Adam of Graham who was the backup goalie in the PL the first time around ?

Any players that want to return would be a huge U-Turn and kick in the face to those that have brought a second season of glory to our little club.

Now lets kick back and watch the hammers be hammered tonight! :D

1. Fuck off newbie

2. Great Post. Totally agree. I do not want Doyle back here, especially at the price we would need to pay for his services. I do think you may be a bit harsh on him for not scoring in the later stages of 07/08. The whole team was playing utter shite, not just Doyle.

Hasn't looked the same for the past season or two but if McDermott wanted him I'd back him to get the best out of him. If we want someone of that style though, I still wouldn't say no to Andy Keogh for probably half the price.

You sure? He's scored more Premier League goals than Torres this season... he may improve your strike force.
