andrew1957 Gunnarsson's comments today scotching the rumours that he wants to return to Iceland would seem to indicate that he is aware of hobnob as I don't think the rumours have been elsewhere.

I should think rumours would be rampant in Iceland.

Not strictly true, i overheard someone discussing it in Sainsburys last week

I shop in Waitrose, and no one mentions Gunnarsson there. Venison, yes ...

I hope Feds wasn't reading this site when a depressingly large proportion of posters turned against him on behalf of McCarthy on the basis of a handful of games, with no regard whatever for feelings, loyalty, and the spuriousness of criticising one goalkeeper just because the other one is good too. I should think it would be bewildering to read that stuff after doing little wrong beyond the occasional error goalies inevitably make. If you took it seriously, it would be enough to make you want to leave.

I used to know quite a few players in the 2002-2005 era.

Andy Hughes looked on HNA and it nearly destroyed him.

Nicky Forster looked but never posted but did ask me to post a Thank you to the fans when he left the club (which I did and got abuse for it). He still considers Reading to be the club where he enjoyed his football the most.

The pervading opinion was that most of us really don't know about football and that our opionions can therefore safely be ignored.

I can't comment on any of the current team as I don't know any of them but like other posters, I suspect they know it exists but don't usually bother with it.

TBM Does anyone know if the players are aware of hobnob - and if so, does anyone know if any have actually logged on to read what is being said?

I have been a regular on here for years, even before I joined the academy. Other players are on here too but I will leave them to introduce themselves.

Royal Lady Well, if any of them are reading this at the moment - I'd just like to say, well done - fantastic achievement and I love you all, but especially Jimmy and if any of them want to blow me a kiss on the way round the stadium on Sunday, they're very welcome to. Plus, if you see me out in town over the coming weekend, I drink Bacardi - cheers!

THANKS

Pretty accurate probably. Anyone reading it needs to realise it's a lot of fans letting off a bit of steam. A lot of fans who haven't a clue and a few who are on a deliberate wind up.

I'm aware of two that post occasionally, and others are certainly aware of the board and some of its discussions. I don't think they take too much notice of the drivel that gets posted but they have on occasion enjoyed some of the Photoshop's on here! The board also keep an eye on what the fans a thinking, both on here and feedback they receive via post and e-mail.

Alan Pardew actually banned the players from looking at this forum - though I'm not quite sure how you police that; but I agree it could easily destroy someone's fragile confidence.

As I recollect things, RFC alumnus Shane Long got his spirits raised by one poster's stubbornly persistent backing, replete with statistical justification and in the face of a withering torrent of abuse and gainsaying that swiftly would have silenced the average mortal

Indeed, HNA? wasn't mentioned by name in a story about Long that appeared in one of the Irish dailies, but it was impossible not to know to what he was referring in his quoted remarks about an RFC-themed fansite (w/interactive forums) that went unnamed in the piece

Notwithstanding the lack of direct evidence of the presence hereabouts of others, basic sense tends to suggest rather forcefully that he can't be the only one, past or present

That was a hoax iirc.
