Robin Friday Film

by Super Kevin Bremner! » 25 Apr 2012 14:13

Just been listening to Paolo Hewitt on Talk Sport and they were discussing a film released today called 'Outside Bet'. He was saying (very briefly) that they are working on a Robin Friday film and that the script is done and dusted.

He wouldn't say anymore about it though. Exciting.

Wonder who would play Robin Friday?

Noel Fielding? Maybe Rhys Ifans with dark hair?

Sounds promising. Reading is not often depicted on the big screen. A brief and unflattering scene in 'Fever Pitch' and a couple mentions in 'Cemetery Junction' being the only times I can recall.

Just you wait, it'll be all about his time at every club except Reading!

haha yeah I shouldn't get my hopes up. Reading might just feature briefly in a montage sequence early on or something.

Russell Brand will probably play him.

Looking forward to seeing the scene with Lawrenson's kit bag!

Oh god, it will be Russell Brand.

Shortly after the Robin Friday book first came out I met Paolo Hewitt at a Mod thing in Lonners and got talking to him. He said back then that he was trying (without success) to get it made into a film. So when was that? 2000?

I would say Messi, but after last night I am not sure he is fit to lace Fridays boots let alone his drinks...

Noel Fielding does look a fair amount like him in the face but hesstain and bone elsewhere. I can't stand that guy.

I doubt this film will happen anyway.

How are they going to recreate the goal he scored against Tranmere from 85 yards where 250,000 people were in the crowd?

Get that bloke from MK that can juggle a ball for 24 hours - two or three takes together should just about cover the control and juggle bit.

EeeeeeeH what a player though...best there ever was, made Pele and Best look like a pair of donkeys he did.......I remember one game when he dribbled round the whole Swindon team three times, went in the Spread Eagle for a swift pint and got back just in time to complete a double hat trick and have a huge turd in the opposing keepers mouth. Absolute legend he was.

CGI mates.

Just take Crouchs goal the other day, squidge him down a foot or two, put him 15ft closer to the goal, put a wig and a blue shirt on him and make it look like it was on the other side of the pitch and none of the 250,000 people who were there will be able to tell the difference. I'd be surprised if someone on here couldn't do it in potato shop.
