Mike Hunt would be very happy with Mariappa

A big +1, Mariappa would be great.

I like the idea of Rhodes a cover for those up front, but feel we are really lacking a pacey striker for next season as well.

Striker, left back and cover in the centre of the park would be my preferences going forward!

Gary Alexander looks a good prospect.

Nick Powell from Crewe is a brilliant talent and as already mentioned he is being courted by the big teams....He'd be an excellent buy as he can play both midfield and forward...

....good investment as well

Either lazy journalism or these rumours have got legs as they're hanging around like a bad smell. Bridge yes please, Eckersley no thanks

Funny how people are writing off Ecklersey when they've never even seen him play...

How did you figure that one out?

Vale had him on loan, wanted to sign him, Ecklersey only agreed to a 6-month deal, and then left because they got relegated.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/port_vale/7322846.stm

That was 4 years ago. Since then he's been learning his trade out in Denmark, and this season has apparently been impressing in the superliga, as this article shows:

http://lesrosbifs.net/2011/12/les-rosbifs-team-of-the-year-2011-includes-celtic-los-angeles-galaxy-men/

And he appears to have a decent left foot:

So, lets just wait and see yeah?

McDermott saw him on Monday and has come out and said he won't be signing anyone from that match.

I assure you he took in more than the one game, and not just in Denmark. He also met with a contact of his while he was away.

I wasn't accusing you of lying, just interested as to where he said it.

He says, 'I went to see a game, to watch a player [but] we won't take him'.

That's assuming he was at the Aarhus game, which if he was watching a game in Denmark on Monday he had to be.

Just to be pedantic - Brian did say " "I went to see a game, to watch a player but we won't take him".
He didn't say "we won't be signing anyone from that match".
