superreadingfan hmm as an outsider looking in, does ask alot of questions..
has a manager ever left a nation after getting it qualified but before the actual competition? very strange
Yes, Roy Hodgson for one!
superreadingfan whats the best you can expect with roy ? if roy's england crashes out of euros without scoring goal or getting a single point in group stages, will he be able to handle the pressure? theres alot of unknowns out there.. but ive always said the problem isnt managers its the players. the fa itself is the problem. making england manager the fall guy time and time again and getting further from winning a trophy isn't progress IMO.
I expect us to start to build a team and a pattern of play. I expect Hodgson to do that with or without the 'superstars' who have failed to take their club form on to the national stage.
I don't expect us to win tournaments, but I do expect us to look like a team with a plan and to be competitive. If we do that we have an outside chance of being successful at a tournament and maybe even win one.
I want to see us play half decent football, select players who are both in form but part of a long term plan to develop a team as opposed to throwing together individuals every now and again.
I think Hodgson is a decent choice to do that.
