Friday's Legacy I hope this means we wont be offering Mullins a contract. No need for both acting as cover, and we really do need to bring a creative midfielder in to offer something different, and something we're currently lacking.

IMO we need 4 defensive CM and an attacking midfield (Siggy or cheaper alternative).

The question is whether the 4 should be Legs, Karacan, Tabb, Gunnar or Mullins.

Personally even if he stays I will be very surprised to see Gunnar in the 25 man squad - more likely a coaching role, but keeping his player registration in case needed after Jan and he can captain the reserves in the meantime.

Assuming Legs and Karacan are nailed on - are Mullins and Tabb good enough for the other two spots. I can see us going with either one or the other, but not sure if that 4 are strong enough. Will be interesting to see what Brian does.

Perhaps the club can see us shipping 7 again next season and could do with having Bryn and his "limitations" to take it up the arse for the defence one last time :|

Mr Angry
Maria Kr. To close the discussion on him leaving and apparently scooping the official site by my estimation of a quick glance over the recent headlines and the fact that nothing's been posted here yet, Bryn's signed a new 1 year deal.

http://www.mbl.is/sport/enski/2012/05/01/gat_ekki_annad_en_tekid_thessu_bodi/ (interview with the man himself)

It's longer by a little bit in the actual paper (which I don't have with me atm so can't directly translate it),in the addition he mainly says his role next season will be similar to thisone, be ready if the manager needs him. Also mentions something along the lines of the setup of the Prem being better (must mean that there's fewer games and thus less strain on him/other players in that sense I recon) and he quips a reference in to older interviews about coming home that he'd said to KR that he'd be back assuming nothing drastic changed. Guess going up was the only thing that could've changed things. Says he's putting that off for a year, but plans haven't changed about which team he wants to come home to play for.

Funny. This is the Google translator of the article. Are you really sure Bryn is staying for a year?
Brynjar Bjorn Gunnarsson will remain in the camp of the English football club Reading for next season. Brynjar confirmed in an interview with yesterday but for some pointed up that he was walking home from a professional and would play with his former club, Manchester, in the summer. "I spoke with the manager before I went home and it's clear that I stay at Reading. First I was made this I found I could not help but take it where we have come up in the Premiership, "said Brynjar Morgunbladid  , who was just returned to Iceland. Brynjar Bjorn has been 15 years in the professional and the last seven years, played with Reading, who recently secured a victory in the Premier B league and game that the division of their best again but the team was there last in 2008.

'Ian Harte is in talks over a new deal, while double promotion-winner Brynjar Gunnarsson is also in discussions with the club about his role and the options open to him. '

Staff role perhaps? I'd love that!

Brian explained to readingfc.co.uk, "I just said to Brynjar that whatever happens, I want him to be around.

"Whether that's in the 25 or not, it's about him being here to add experience to what we've got. He's just a great person and a great professional.

"So I've made that promise to him, as I say whether it's in the 25, or being around the younger players to help Chris Cummins."

Brian also confirmed that contract talks with Ian Harte are progressing, saying, "We're negotiating with him to try and get him signed, that one is ongoing.

"And in terms of new players, watch this space."

Really hope this works out and that the Prem money allows us to keep Bryn well beyond his playing days.

Be delighted to see Bryn as a coach... but I can't help feel he's rather overstayed his playing days even as emergency cover now.

Agreed. I think Brian's comments above lean towards Bryn not being in the 25 man squad and being more involved with the younger players, and passing on his experience.

Cup game bench cover would be fine tho?

Our impending reserve team manager/player/link man???...maybe

None of us know what really goes on behind the scenes in MaccyD's world

But for a (pretty much) spent force like Bryn to still be around next season either on the playing squad or backroom staff list, at the bequest of MaccyD, tells me all I need to know

God still exists, and is still at Reading ..........and in gods apprentice we'll trust

he's exactly the type of senior player we need to keep to develop our team. I'd love him to stay.
