Slough Town play their play-off semi-final tomorrow (Thursday) evening against Beaconsfield SYCOB for the right to play Bedworth in the final on Monday 7th.

It should have been played last night, but as Slough's last game of the season against Woodford United on Saturday was postponed due to flooding, they were trying to re-arrange that game for Tues, then have Slough play SYCOB on Thurs, before the Monday final!

However, Woodford was again postponed, so Slough will play on Thursday without having played their final league match of the season.

Royal Rother I like that!

Don't worry, even if Slough beat SYCOB, they will meet a Bedworth team that put 5 past them a few weeks back, so it is tough enough even without the fixture congestion. Wonder if the League will make them play the Woodford fixture once the play-offs are over?

I wish Slough well, I meant it amused me that they were playing the "semi" before completing the league fixtures! That can't happen often.

I wonder if SYCOB's Victor Osobu will come back to Windsor next season - he was a bit of a hero at Stag Meadow for a brief while before he went to Malta.

Dorking win their final game of the season in the CCL Premier with an astonishing 6-4 win over Badshot Lea. This secures Dorking's place in the Premier next season. The remaining relegation place will go to either Colliers Wood (2 games remaining) and Chessington & Hook (1 game remaining). Currently, Colliers Wood are 1 point ahead and with a superior goal difference.

First time anyone can remember the 'Chicks' (Dorking) being 5-1 up at half-time for ages ...

... and the final two league matches are not being played on the same day, since one of Colliers Wood's remaining games is actually the League Cup Final at Cherrywood Rd, Farnboro FC tomorrow night (Friday vs Guernsey)

Their final league game vs Epsom is scheduled for next Tuesday @ Cobham; whilst Chess 'n Hook play their final match tonight (H v Hanworth Villa) - that's if its not already been called off again :? - I'll have alook about. Just did - its on according to the CCL F'Focus site

Oh and the final Sluff league game postponed yet again on Tuesday ahead of tonights SOUTH1S&W Play Off is CANCELLED not Postponed so they won't have to go to Woodford after they've triumphed magnificently/failed miserably in the Play Offs vs Beaconsfield/Bedworth.

Elsewhere last night 'The Kingfishers '(Thatcham Town) successfully defended the Basingstoke Senior Cup; beating a team called New Inn Sports 3-0 at Alton Town FC - not sure which league the opponents were from probably Basingstoke & District or summat. The other entrants for this fairly minor trophy are (apart from maybe Alton) all below Thatcham's level in the pyramid by some way so hardly unexpected providing they take it seriously.

Will try and knock together some kind of Preview ahead of Sat/Sun/Mon games - but other than play offs there aren't many/if any to speak of at STEP06 or above.

I went to watch Dulwich there in September and despite it being towards the start of the season I'd have to say the ground in general was one of the weakest at our level and I can't imagine its got better after all this rain. Grass is likely to be sparse I would have thought.

Chesington & Hook got spanked 5-0 at home to Hanworth Villa which consigns Chessy to Division 1. Can't say that I am gutted 8)

Slough Town lose 2-1 AET to SYCOB. They missed a penalty after 80+ minutes and went 1 up with about 10 minutes left of ET, only to let in 2 quickly thereafter.

Slough had 3 shots on target in the whole 120 mins and one of those was the saved penalty, one their goal...

Terrible game by all accounts.

I couldn't make the game due to work, but it sounded awful - then again, the pitch is hardly conducive to fast, flowing football. I would be surprised if many Slough fans were actually thinking about Monday beyond how many Bedworth would put past them if they got through, as by all accounts they absolutely played them off the park in both games.

All in all it's been a terrible last few months of the season for Slough: the dip in form (that coincided with 2 of the best players leaving for higher leagues and not being replaced); the death of Chris Sliski, Slough's most ardent supporter and apparently well known and respected in non-league circles; the farcical postponement/cancellation of the Woodford game; the inevitable 2nd place finish with no promotion (sounds like 1994/5). However, the new ground is now looking like a real possibility, and next season hopefully there won't be a St Neots-type team with bags of money to throw about.

4th time lucky?
