No. But I do sit on the internet and watch TV all day, so I usually hear it once it's made public.

If Swansea are currently on top to take him, surely this gives us a better chance than we thought?

TBH if we're not even going to try and get him and Swansea get him instead, then RFC and Anton can fcuk off :|

Was also my first thought. Close relationship with Brian, though arguably not as close as he is to Rodgers. But can we afford him? Also, we don't currently have a system that suits him, whereas at Swansea he has the team and playing style already in place and they can build the team around him. Plus they are ahead of us in establishing themselves in the Premier League. Coming to Reading over Swansea doesn't make much sense.

I think we are already resigned to not getting him for whatever reason. Hence why we are looking at in the hole players like sigurdarsson.

Why would he be closer to Rodgers? Surely it's McDermott that's worked with him most since he came to England?

1. I'd have thought him closer to Brian than Brendan, who didn't really play him that much.

2. Surely we can afford him more than Swansea can.

3. They are obviously going to struggle next season, while how we will do is unknown. The positives are we finished champs not third, have a great ethos, great manager and money in the bank if the TSI deal goes through. I'd say we are more attractive than Swansea; at the least they are as likely to go down as us!

Ideal In danger of repeating myself, but:
IF TSI CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR SIGURDSSON, THEY CAN F*CK RIGHT OFF

Are you really expecting the club to spend £6-7m on one player already? That will happen if we establish ourselves in the Premiership I'm sure, but to expect that now is a bit unrealistic in my opinion. If we spend £3-4m on one player this summer I will be taken a back, and will accept that as ambitious at this stage.

I expect they CAN afford him, it’s whether they think the expenditure is justified.

We all do of course but they are probably thinking we could get someone nearly as good for ten times less.

Well you can't, Anton. Don't look at John, look at me - I'm the one talking not him. You need to sign Si... ANTON, DON'T SHRUG. Shrugging is for people who don't know, or don't care. Which are you, huh? STOP LOOKING AT JOHN, he's not got the answer. You need to sign Sigurdsson. Now get out.

Sigurdsson is literally the only player I'd be vaguely interested in us spending that much money on this summer.

With the Glazers debt to service, he will be out of there price range. Currently in talks with Bryan Robson to come out of rertirement.

If Gylfi is out of reach I wouldn't mind Jordan Mutch from Birmingham.
A similar type of player and similar in physique to Gylfi.
I was very impressed with him at Watford and with Birmingham not going up and seemingly in dire straits financially he might not be that expensive and with Curtis Davies as part of the package £5-6 million or so would IMHO get us two decent players.
