TBM
From the outside looking in...having caught a couple of their games on TV this season...Finding those guys who appear to have seen it and done it but retain the same level of ambition and enthusiasm, such as Jason Roberts, is an extremely difficult task.

How is that Roberts?

and by naming himself in the article he naturally removes himself from suspicion of being behind the article.

"Reading's haul of 46 points from the past 51 available has seen them promoted to the Premier League after a four-year absence. From the outside looking in, it would appear that Brian McDermott's squad of players recognise that together they are far more than the sum of their parts and, having caught a couple of their games on TV this season, they certainly appear to be a squad that have fought their way back to the big stage one inch at a time."

Can't see roberts choosing to write an article about his own team, especially with wording like that. Obviously some may say its disguised wording but whats the point of going to those depths. Can't see it being Roberts.

What We Know from the article on 29 Jan:
“What if Sky Sports offered me Andy Gray’s job? Not a chance.” – Not a fan of punditry, thus unlikely to be a player who appears as a pundit.

Can't be Roberts or Murphy judging by that ^

Murphy has not been relegated. So it's not Murphy.

It would appear Brian McDermott's squad of Reading players recognise that together they are far more than the sum of their parts.

Roberts said that almost word for word on Goals on Sunday...along with a few other direct quotes from that article.

Cobi I stand by Roberts. It was a very reliable source (media) on Twitter at the time and everything on here only backs that up.

Kitson hasn't got children, so I'd be surprised if he was squirreling away a university fund. Kevin Davies seems much more plausible than anyone else.

My suspicion is that it’s not just one player but maybe two or three. Either that or the player who it is has purposely thrown in a few lies to confuse people.

Or it's a Guardian journo who occasionally phones the player, a la like every, single other column "written" by a footballer.

It's Scott Parker.

He wrote of a last day relegation battle in which he had been involved. Relegation with West Ham was confirmed early doors, so it can only be Parker if this article relates to Curbishley and Charlton in 98-99, when the Addicks were relegated on the final day.

This. But probably more than three - wouldn't surprise me if it was a different player every article.

The most effective thing I have ever seen for a group of football players was to sit them down to watch a montage of their best pieces from the season. There was no negativity whatsoever, just highlight after highlight of skill, goals, inch-perfect through-balls, crunching tackles, goalline clearances and great saves, all punctuated by clever shots of players hugging, high-fiving, smiling and laughing. It only lasted about 15 minutes but it was long enough for each player to feel reassured about his value to the team. So simple, but so effective.

Exactly what Brian does before matches according to an interview in the Times the other week.

I've not read more than a couple of them but I'd go along with this idea and well ghost written by whichever journo it is that pulls it all together.
