Starfish
cmonurz Michael Thomas v Liverpool looking small fry now compared to this.

Really? Not for anyone who watched Anfield '89 as an adult (and not as a Liverpool fan).

Having said that, the fact that there were relegation and titles on the line and so on make today a very very memorable finale. Agreed.

Yesterday was great, but the top two playing each other, an upset and the general emotion of the 88-89 season makes that rather more exciting and memorable.

Did you quote the above exchange by accident? I can't see what your reply has to do with it.

How the hell, in these days when strikers aren't allowed to breath on the 'keeper, was Stoke's first goal allowed to stand?

Crazy!

Fabulous finish but doesn't compare to the Michael Thomas goal.

City won a game they should have been winning at a canter, Arsenal had to win by two away to the best team in the country at a ground that, back then, was an absolute fortress.

Has anyone pointed out to the QPR fans and management who are so very proud, that they lost yesterday and only stayed up due to another side failing to win?

I doubt it.

We scored the most goals against City than any other side this season, the FA said that was enough to stay up.

Utd forums appear to have decided that Cisse is public enemy number 1 due to him celebrating with Nasri

No better way of trying not to focus on arguably the biggest choke in top level English football history

Would we have cared if we had only stayed up thanks to Fulham fcuking up?

Different, we won. We did all that we could do.

I think Schards' point is that it's all very well QPR 'celebrating' but they lost yesterday, they didn't do what they needed to do, and were it not for 2 very dodgy refereeing decisions they'd have gone down.

I don't think I'd have particularly cared but, if asked, my main emotion would have been one of relief rather than pride having seen us fail to do what we needed to do.

Speaking to a QPR m8 of mine this morning I can assure you they couldn't care less that that's how they stayed up.
QPR had a horrendous goal line decision go against them at Bolton so shit happens.. Plus another trip to the Bush next season :!:

But they didn't, hence the celebrations. :|
