Barton's ploy to take another one with him would never work, would it? I mean, Kompany and company are too cool for that.

And then Mario stalks over ....

Mario, mate, when someone is publicly hanging themselves, you don't need to pull the rope. Have a brain.

blindedbythelights well you can blame the press, not footballers, for that - if you dont stick to the sick as a parrot/over the moon script you end up misquoted by some lazy hack looking for a headline

Probably true..some are dammed if they came across as dull but then if they say anything slightly un PC its what a disgrace!

Not surprising, anywhere but a football pitch it would have been called leaning. Footballers couldn't headbutt their way out of a wet paper bag. Zidane excepting.

you need only look at the nasri comments in the arsenal thread to see what idiots have to say when a player actually speaks his mind

Royal Rother I was talking to someone last night about this Barton / Lineker "feud" and he confirmed, having 1st hand experience of Lineker and his family that he is indeed a dick of the highest order.

Yes, the shagging around was generally known but the whole Mr Nice image is a carefully constructed sham over many years - his kids are wild, arrogant gobshites over whom he has no control and he, and they, are classic "don't you know who I am" merchants.

Might be an exaggeration I suppose but what he told me surprised me I have to say.

have heard similar.

The fine is a joke. When he kicks out like that completely unprovoked then you should hit him with a much bigger fine than that.

12 games, 1/3 of the season. QPR wont be able to sell him now, not until January if their lucky. Hopefully they have grounds to dismiss him!

Danny Mills on 5Live has just been spouting that 12 games is way over the top and it's only because it's Joey.
What a plank Danny Mills is.

I still think the FA have missed the extras for the third and fourth red cards - they've issued a statement that it's 4 games for the red card, 4 games for the kick at Aguero and 4 for the headbutt.

A third red card in a season is a 5 game ban if it's for violent conduct, not 4
The fourth red card is a 6 game ban.

But hey ho - 12 will do for starters - he won't be in anyone's Premier League 25 until at least January.

12 game ban. I wonder if we will see Sparky wearing a T-shirt in support of Joey? Of course not, what kind of (ex) manager would do that....?

12 games is harsh.

10 would of been sufficient.

I think he's right though, if this was pretty much anyone else, it would have been about 8 games.

Isn't there the "maximum two weeks wages" cap on fines for footballers? Barton on £37.5K a week at QPR isn't that outlandish so probably where the fine amount comes from...

Pretty sure that's just a maximum that the clubs can impose on their own players (believe that can be exceeded in extreme cases too).

Really? There is no place for people like him in football.

A lifetime ban would be fitting.

You're right of course. But the fact that it is Barton means that the culprit in this case has history. The FA have quite rightly taken this into consideration.

Too right. Re-offenders should be punished more severely.
