The Liverpool fans are disappointed that he got the sack because they desperately wanted him to succeed,not that the club has sacked him.

Cmonrz - it's a truly bizarre comparison as if McDermott had been sacked for Reading missing out on promotion, it would have been completely unjustified, as he hadn't spent a shed load of money on some very average players.

Idiots missing my point doesn't surprise me.

Dalglish is revered at Anfield. That gets you some slack. McDermott was very highly thought of at Reading (the comparisons to Coppell had started) before the new owners came in. The point is, the fans love Dalglish like we do McDermott, no amount of circumstance is going to change that or stop many being upset that he is leaving the club.

Not sure that comparing BMcD to KD is appropriate. I would rather compare the late Maurice Evans to KD. Evans was an accomplished player with Reading and then went on to manage us. I was not impressed with the way that the club got rid of him and replaced him with Ian Branfoot especially as we were third in the league at the time.

Bigger clubs often look for managers who are performing well at smaller teams so the likes of Paul Lambert and Martinez feature prominently in the "next Liverpool manager" betting. But one manager who has performed miracles for years at a smaller club is a rank outsider.

Call me mad, but I give you David Moyse at 250/1. If has was doing what he does at any club other than Everton, he'd be about 7/1.

I know he was loved, but it was a baffling decision to put in a man who hadn't managed for so long. He was clearly going to be out of touch and not work. Still, at least they've got it out the way so it isn't sitting there undermining the next manager.
