BR2TailsVictor Meldrew I think you miss the point.
The Liverpool fans are disappointed that he got the sack because they desperately wanted him to succeed, not that the club has sacked him.
Really? Not one of the fans quoted on the news channels have indicated this interpretation. They realise that he is probably now out of touch with the world
You mean that his stance on racism in football belongs back in the 1980s?
I doubt there was much about it on CBBC or whatever news channel you have been watching.
Your point about racism is unfounded-have you personally spoken to him about his views on racism?
You have assumed that because he stood behind his employee means that he advocated racism-a misguided stance based on loyalty maybe but hardly unconditional evidence of him being a racist.

Sorry lad I think you must have wandered on to the wrong website.
Take a look back at this and most other topics and you will see very little evidence of the "sensible discussion" that you desire.
This site is full of mainly senselless discussion and mild abuse posted by mainly childish people-hadn't you sussed that?
WARNING-sensible aspect coming up:-
As for your bold and rather arrogant stance on racism what about the edict of "innocent until proven guilty" which surely is of similar importance.
With Dalglish and T-shirtgate this was an example of that edict.
It may have been ill-judged but many employers stand by their man in the first instance (Cameron/Hunt in recent days).
Dalglish may have been wrong by continuing to stand by his man but that was the judgement of somebody with a poor PR mechanism at his club and whereas he (like a lot of people) regards Evra as a whingeing little toe-rag he probably should have eased back on his support for his player just as Fergie eventually did with the reprehensible Cantona and Chelsea seem to have done with Terry.
Personally I am still with Blatter that whatever is said on the pitch in the heat of battle stays on the pitch and ends with a handshake rather than "Sir,this boy said something horrible to me".
Then again I grew up in different times when there was no such obsession with all things racist beyond the countless other ills that affect our society and the coverage of the "offences" committed by Terry annd Suarez have IMHO had disproportionate coverage to the seriousness of those offences.

Hoop Blah The Liverpool fans on my Facebook are all throwing their toys out because they deserve a bigger and better [proven] name than Martinez.

Terminal Boardom The hardest part of the job at Anfield will be managing the supporters' expectations. Unrealistically high after the shambles that was the last 4 years of Benitez, Hodgson and Dalglish. Will Martinez be "allowed" to do things his way?
by Maguire » 18 May 2012 12:03
southbank1871 I like Martinez but what credentials does he really have to take over at Liverpool?
