The Liverpool fans are disappointed that he got the sack because they desperately wanted him to succeed,not that the club has sacked him.

Apologies but I'm of the belief that standing by principles should be preferred and not the misguided stance of blind-fully and willfully ignoring the elephant in the room. With Dalglish and T-shirtgate this was an example of that edict.

Personally I am still with Blatter that whatever is said on the pitch in the heat of battle stays on the pitch and ends with a handshake rather than "Sir,this boy said something horrible to me".
Then again I grew up in different times when there was no such obsession with all things racist beyond the countless other ills that affect our society and the coverage of the "offences" committed by Terry annd Suarez have IMHO had disproportionate coverage to the seriousness of those offences.

Back on the subject of Dalglish and Suarez, the comparison you give are flawed.
Both Chelsea and Man Utd have publicly declared support for Terry and Cantona respectively, but then let the process take its course.
The fans may have more to say, but the club and management have tended in both cases to deflect questions without the 'high and mighty' KKKenny 'I'm a victim' mentality.
Don't get me wrong, Cantona should have and Terry should (if found guilty) face the same sanctions as if a fan had committed the same offences at a match - a two year ban from ANY football grounds.

Hardly a surprise. Let's not forget that some Reading fans threw toys out of the pram at the appointments of the then "unknowns" Alan Pardew and Brian McDermott. And other club's fans would do just the same all across the leagues. Let's also not forget that Liverpool are approaching several "names" supposedly so it's not a done deal by a long way (& they'll probably end up bringing Rafa back)

I don't recall exactly, but I think Benitez managed the European Cup win, then a 2nd and 3rd over three or four seasons. Then the Americans came in, the money dried up (relatively) and he struggled.

I don't think Benitez would be a bad appointment under the new regime.
