Ideal Chelsea's chances of winning the Champions League are similar to that of Wizard bedding Sofia Vergara.

Chelsea probably the dullest side to win the Champs League (cup)since Red Star Belgrade who also played for penalties.
Wasn't it 17-1 on corners supremacy just like in the game away at Barcelona where IIRC Chelsea may have had 2 corners to their 20 or so?
Corners don't win matches of course (although Chelsea scored their goal from their first corner in the 87th minute)but it gives a good indication of how a game has gone.
Abramovich looked bored to tears during the game and must have wondered how much more money he will have to shell out to get entertaining football.

This was a Wimbledon-type performance where the lesser club packed their defence and just hoped that they might sneak a goal so their tactics are vindicated but I think Roman must have wondered why he had shellled out all that money over the years just to end up watching that dross.
On another night Bayern Munich might have scored at least 6,.just like Barcelona might in each of the semis, and who would have thought that both Messi and Robben would miss penalties that could have sealed both games?

Great credit though for the defensive discipline,3 great performances from Cech and from Drogba-what a player he is and even at 34 lasted the 120 minutes and some.
As for Terry joining in,I wouldn't disagree with that because medals were given to the squad rather than just those that played on the night.

So that's now for European Cups won:-
The North 8
The Midlands 3
Scotland 1
London 1
Those "big" clubs from London,Arsenal,Chelsea and Spurs have a bit of leeway to make up but I suppose it's a start.

Roman splashed all that cash to win the Champions League. He's won it.

Pretty pathetic, Mr Avon Royal.

Same goes for Kes, but it's at least expected from him.

I thought Ashley Cole was outstanding for Chelsea in the Champions League Final.

As was, surprisingly, Mikel.

And Cahill was better than Terry.

I reckon, he'll get the job.............until October at least

You know my beef is with Liverpool fans who choose to be selective about history. If a club is going to bang on about things it did in the past it needs to be humble as well as proud.

Premier League - Torres wants clarity after Chelsea nightmare

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has said he has had the worst moments of his career with the club this season and needs clarity about his future role with the newly-crowned European champions.

Torres wants out, Man City player next season, softening the blow of a Real Madrid swoop for Aguero?

Victor Meldrew This was a Wimbledon-type performance where the lesser club packed their defence and just hoped that they might sneak a goal so their tactics are vindicated but I think Roman must have wondered why he had shellled out all that money over the years just to end up watching that dross.
On another night Bayern Munich might have scored at least 6,.just like Barcelona might in each of the semis, and who would have thought that both Messi and Robben would miss penalties that could have sealed both games?

Finishing is one of the biggest parts of football, so whilst Munich had more of the ball, had ten-fold more chances, and were the better team to watch, they still only scored one goal across the whole 120 minutes.

You talk a lot of sense, but had Munich scored in the first twenty minutes it may have been a different spectacle thereafter. Munich would've played a less adventurous game and Chelsea would've come out more. They would've forced more set-pieces, from which they are dangerous, and could have potentially scored more themselves. Just look at the fact that during the only 6 minutes they did come at Munich they scored the equaliser. You can't say Munich could've scored six because after the first goes in it's a completely different game.

Chelsea are deserved winners in my opinion. Yes they did set up negatively but they played both of the semi-final legs and the final to the best of their ability. Mourinho won the competiton in a similar way with Inter Milan (beating Barcelona to get to the final, and then Munich in the final, irconically enough) and everybody was telling of his supreme tactical-nouse. Chelsea did what they needed to, especially with the suspensions they had. The likes of Gary Cahill played out of his skin despite only being declared fit to play days before the game, having never played in a game of that magnitude before.

Let's not forget Munich were playing on their home turf too.

Agreed with Tom.

You have to make the best of what you have and Chelsea certainly did that over two games against Barca and 120mins against Bayern Munich. Lert's face it, they were rank outsiders going in to the last four and they were the last team anybody would have backed to win the thing. Nobody gave them a chance against Barca over two legs yet they scored three goals and won the tie.

It's not about how many passes you make or how many shots on goal you have or anything like that, it's about how many goals you score. Chelsea didn't have the personnel to be as adventurous in the final as they may have liked (Ramires in particular was a big miss due to his ability to get from back to front so quickly) so they adopted a system designed to give them the best chance of winning the game, and win it they did. Excellent stuff.
