Big Foot
TBM Grant Holt has submitted a transfer request at Norwich

Actual LOL - what a pr@

His agent has come out with a classic bit of agent-speak, changing the reason for the transfer request in 18 words......

"It's not about money. It's not all about money. Obviously money comes into the scenario - it always does.

"Players like to feel like they're being valued and being respected. There's a couple of issues Grant's not happy with and feels they need resolving."

So, he wants more money then???

Do we know what Holt is earning?

Tbf, if Holt is on, say £25k a week, and on the back of a very good season has asked for a pay rise/contract review, and been rebuffed, you can understand he might think his time at Norwich is up. He would certainly been an asset to a ‘bigger’ mid-table side like Villa or Everton.

IIRC I read somewhere that he is on about £16,000 per week or it might have been £18,000 but in any event well below even £25,000 per week.

Ta, just highlights the point really. The highest, or one of the highest, English goalscorers in the Premier League last season, basically carried Norwich to mid-table, and only earning £18k a week. If Norwich won't look at that, you can see why he would want to go.

Norwich have a very low (relatively speaking) wage ceiling, about 15k I think, maybe slightly more to match BR2's info. Either way if they want to keep Holt they'll have to blow their wage structure.

After a half hearted denial, it is now confirmed that Drogba is leaving Chelsea this summer

Simon's Church But the Ozil and Khedira values were ridiculously low, Bremen sold Diego the year before for over £20m.

Diego is not German, however.

Özil & Khedira type transfers are much more the rule than the exception. Podolski is now another example. When Bayern don't want a German player (and Bayern will pay big money for German players - Gomez being the best example), he generally stays where he is, or he goes abroad at a decent price. And only a really exceptional player (like Götze) will see silly prices being paid.

You mention Götze, what's the consensus in Germany as to where he will end up come August? Would love to see him come to England, but given Dortmund have won the league this season will he be happy to stay? Or will Bayern come in and pay the big money you were talking about?

He signed a lengthy extension to his contract in February or March that should keep him in Dortmund until 2016, and as far as I can see, that seems to be the end of it for now. There's no talk about him leaving this summer, Dortmund will not sell him to Bayern and turned down a major offer from Arsenal in one of the last transfer windows.

Really unsure of him, he was seen as a bit if a joke until a couple of years back. A football mad Portuguese friend of mine describes him as being very one dimensional, brilliant if everything is set up perfectly around him but goes missing if not or if the opposition put pressure on him. Says his temper will bring some lolz too

Hope they are not spending too much on him

This. In fact on top of the Podolski transfer, buying top quality players from German clubs seems an absolute steal.

19 in 40 games last season isn’t a terrible return. But of course there will be exceptions. There is some ‘cheap’ talent in the Bundesliga though.

Cisse another one.
