Correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt Gylfi basically take us from relegation candidates to just outside the Playoffs when McD came in?

Norfolk Royal Luxury player, hmmmm.

I'd love to luxuriate in watching him score goals for us.

Agreed. I bet Swansea wouldn't have been in such a good position had they not had him.

I think you're confusing him with Howard

Like I said, they were already in a fairly comfortable position. He didn't need to come in and improve them (obviously he did), they were already a team playing well with lots of points on the board already. It's not like he turned around a string of terrible performances

Didn't he also play regularly under Rodgers when we were relegation candidates?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah that's basically what I meant, didn't quite phrase it right. I don't see him as a 'luxury player' at all.

Just can't see us spending pretty much our entire budget on a guy who doesn't even fit into our system, especially when we have so many other areas that need strengthening.

You're wrong. He played a fair bit under Rodgers and a far bigger turn around was the introduction of Khiz and Grif to defence. And iirc the partnership of Tabb & Howard in central midfield came together successfully as well at that point.

Yes, meaning he's wrong and it wasn't Gylfi who dragged us up the table under McDermott. It was McDermott's excellent management and a range of players. Glad you agree with me.

I think I phrased that badly, maybe a side effect of being ill atm. I totally agree that it was largely other factors as well as McD and Gylfi, my original point was meant to be that he can play, and imo be invaluable, in a team fighting relegation and so is not a 'luxury player'. Not quite sure why I wrote that.

Thanks for correcting me

He's bloody brilliant. But it's still a team game and if the rest of the team is shit, he can't carry everyone on his own.

I think it's about time we all realised that Ian Royal is the oracle on all things RFC and if he says something, you better bloody agree with it.

This rough and ready, includes cups

1044 Minutes Played 43 Minutes Average per Game - - - 24 Available Games under Rodgers
2075 Minutes Played 77 Minutes Average per Game - - - 27 Available Games under McDermott

Kish only played 1075 Minutes in the whole season
