SPECULATION - Didier Drogba

by Niko » 22 May 2012 14:29

Just been confirmed by Sky Sports that he's leaving Chelsea when his contract expires next month. Could be a decent coup for BM...

I've been told on good authority that Jonny Fordham is writing this up as a story on GetReading...

Just to let you know, at the end of last season we were celebrating because we were in the premier league, not the champions league. Hope this clears any drogba speculation up.

Now this would be a completely bonkers signing, that would probably have all Reading, probably ALL football fans, thinking they had gone mad. The China thing may hit the skids as I read somewhere Anelka is in dispute with the club so he may not be manager for much longer. Having said that, I am sure the major clubs in Europe may be forming a queue now. That's before the £250k a week the Chinese may be offering, would be incredibly bonkers though :D

He did say he was "the time is right for a new challenge", he has won everything a person can win in football...so trophies might not be a motivation for him at this point.

Can't see Drogba going to China just to be on the bench behind Manset

This is ridiculous. People should lower their expectations a little. Drogba? Please. We can't even sign Gylfi or Doyle back.

Maybe in a few years when we're in the champions league

Very plausible, with TSI's money behind us.

Hearing Torres would like to leave too. Probably some on here will say he's not good enough for us, but I think he could do ok if he regained some confidence. McDermott is good at doing that with players.

Would be great to play Chelsea with a Drogba/ Torres strikeforce, they'd have a lot of motivation.

Uefa cup place for us next season?

Am a bit worried that the jar marked "Messi Fund' might get spunked on Drogba or Torres. That, to my mind, would be a mistake.

We need every penny to lure Lee Nogan out of retirement

He won't come, not if we are getting Torres.

They just don't get on together

We could play Drogba in the league games and Torres in the FA Cup. Or the other way around if Drogba needs a rest.

I hope the club are giving this serious consideration.
