Anton is personally rich enough up to a point (personal wealth estimated to be about the same as Peter Coates) but isn't rich enough to turn us into perennial European qualifiers like some were predicting when news broke. With Boris on board that would be possible. I suppose it depends what Anton's plans which he outlined to the Premier League are.

Where did you get that info on his personal wealth from?

Maybe he searched through his bins?

SCIAG
Uke
Ups and Downs You guys have no ambition. This could have reached 300 pages with the right sort of encouragement.

Personally, I think the mod who deleted 20 pages for his own amusement should be thrown off the board and then shot in the street.

You'll be redacted too!

The main thing about TSI seems is probably their inability to show the flow of funds openly and transparently so that anyone can see who is bankrolling the club

Since Leeds the PL want it to be clear where the money comes from - most clubs have owners like Ashley, Abramovich, Whelan or Mansoor so it's clear where the money flows from (even if it is "dirty")

Anton, just ain't personally rich enough

It isn't really "since Leeds", more like since Portsmouth. They had owners who didn't exist.

With Boris on board that would be possible. I suppose it depends what Anton's plans which he outlined to the Premier League are.

According to the latest Rich list, Peter Coates (with his family) is worth £800m. Didn't think Anton is that wealthy? Also, it's a moot point anyway as Peter Coates doesn't own Stoke City.

Peter Coates (born 13 January 1938) is a businessman and current owner of the Stoke City Football Club. He has been listed as the 25th richest person in British football.[2] He founded Bet365 in 2000, as well as Signal Radio in 1983.[3]

Tokyo Sex Whale I have it on very very good authority that Reading FC were a month ago enquiring about purchasing something of significant value (not a player) that would enhance/improve the clubs facilities and have very recently withdrawn their interest.

It's not a matter of Anton's wealth alone; it's his and his fathers wealth - and as I understand it, all directors involved also have to be checked out. AZ and BZ are both involved and have both provided proof of funds to the PL (as previously discussed). I'm only scanning conversations (some now deleted), but it seems to be that some people are still of the thinking that it's only AZ. CS has confirmed BZ is involved.

I spoke to a friend of mine today who confirmed, as another friend did yesterday, that it sounds like we're almost there. I was told today that the PL appear to be satisfied with who has what money; however, yesterday I was also told there remains a few questions needing answering. I can't elaborate on what those are yet, as I was asked to keep that to myself. But it does sound positive, and more of a case of when now and not if. Whether that is 2 weeks, 4 weeks or 8 weeks; it really doesn't matter as long as these people are deemed suitable to take ownership of this football club.

surely team strengthening depends who is actually holding the purse strings , so 8 weeks or even 4 weeks isn`t` really acceptable?

I can't see us relying on massive cash injections to be funding signings given everything Anton and the club have been saying. The most we'll be doing is acting on a budget that allows us to run at a loss. If Anton etc comes in, that loss will be plugged and we'll see extra spending on infrastructure. If not, we'll be looking at our costs in another year's time and being more frugal.

That should give us a budget to allow at least £5m - £10m spent on transfers, reasonably safely, I'd have thought.

I would agree it wouldn't be ideal, but like January it would be money loaned to the club - assuming we were planning to spend bigger than we would under SJM's budget ownership of course. Who knows what our budget is.

I thinnk the big questions are

1 - Will this thread make 150 Pages?

2 - Will Hobnob survive the imminent metldown when it either does or doesn't happen?

I also suggest we start a "I Told you so Thread" now in preperation for future gloating.

You know a mini-cull has all the hallmarks of Platypuss, when you write a post suggesting that a mini-cull has all the hallmarks of Platypuss and it gets deleted.

Yeah. Wikipedia. Isn't always right. Peter Coates is chairman of stoke city fc. The club is owned, ultimately by bet365. He only has a 7% share in bet365.

I believe it was additional land at Hogwood park. Anton also made reference to this when he spoke about upgrades to infrastructure that was already underway.

The Coates family do. His daughter has 50.1% of bet365 making her the single biggest shareholder in stoke city. The bet365 wiki page is correct.
