Wage cut clauses, plans on where to cut support operating costs etc. However, keeping players who aren't close to the 1st team in case we go down is not good planning and something rather different.

See where Snowballers is coming from but have to agree with IR in that it's a bit much to be planning on keeping a player and asking him tosign a new contact just in case might be a bit of a stretch.

It's a nice plan in theory but it represents a gamble for both the club and the player and would surely seem the less appealing option to Antonio himself?

Agreed, and another £900k-£1m in the transfer budget. It's good for both parties, and the sell-on and first refusal is a wise move on our part.
