Unless Morrison is desperate for games I'd keep him as fourth choice next season, he's impressed at Swindon and Huddersfield and wouldn't take up a spot in the 25 man squad. Certainly no reason to get rid of him.

Yeah, this is my reasoning IR.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Connolly as a player, and if we want to bring him in to cover RB and LB as well then fair enough. However I'd like to think that we'll be looking to bring in specialist full backs for those positions.

Spending a large proportion of our budget on 2 CB's when we have a very decent prospect waiting in the wings seems a bit pointless tbh. Not suggesting that Morrison is ready to play 20 games next season, but I think in a couple of years he'll be ready to take over from Gorkss. Not sure Connolly has that sort of scope for improvement.

We'll see, in Brian we trust.

Definitely on the bold bit. I'd like to see Morrison get some Chump games under his belt before he's a bench warmer for us. It's not something I have particularly strong feelings about though.

I just worry about us having a squad full of too many mediocre inexperienced players who aren't going to contribute out of misguided sentiment. Like last time.

Admittedly I only watched the second half ot today's Huddersfield game but Morrison was beaten quite a few times in the air, looked cumbersome and distribution poor.
A bit like the Pearce of a year ago so perhaps we shouldn't give up on him yet because if he did a Pearce we would be well pleased.

I reckon Morrison might be a very good Championship defender (on the level of Mariappa) in a few years. He's strong and good in the air. However, I don't think he'd suit Pearce very well, as he isn't particularly mobile and isn't as intelligent or aware as Gorkss. Jake Cooper and particularly Matt Partridge look like better bets to replace Gorkss, though the chances are we'll replace him externally anyway. I can see Morrison doing a job in the short term but I'd rather he got a loan to the Championship because he'll probably develop better that way.

Mathieu Manset scored his first goal for Shanghai Shenhua in a 2-1 win over Guizhou Renhe.

Edited to add: Played the whole 90 minutes too.

It's a shame, I always hoped we'd concentrate on developing him instead of Simon Church (sorry) but it seems like we may be selling him.

It'll be quite strange if he loses his place to Didier Drogba.

Good loan for Ugwu. He could be one for the future.

A quick edit of the thread title should do the trick.
