We have Cummings,Pearce, Karacan, Kanu, McCarthy, Andersenand Sheppard with Morrison and Manset returning as well. Marriapa is no better than what we already have and hasn't got the sufficient quality required to help us stay in the PL.

It's not about negativity it's about getting the club to realise how great they can be. They don't know their own potential and by encouraging signings like this you people are bringing them down.

Personally. I'd say Marriapa is a significantly better option at CB than Cummings, Karacan, Robson-Kanu, McCarthy, Andersen, Manset or Sheppard.

He'd also be a significant improvement on Morrison, giving us three top quality Championship Centrebacks with the potential to make the step up. Personally, given his age and experience, I'd say he's just about more likely to make a big impact for us in the Prem than Gorkss or Pearce.

I'd be delighted if we can pull this off. Though can it please be for a deal at either less than £2m, or £3m or greater? All our signings in the £2m - £2.5m area have been crap.

Marriapa would give us something different to Pearce and Gorks, that's probably as important as the fact that he might be a little better.

His pace, and ability to play right back as well, means we would have an alternative to the plodding but steady incumbants. Having the option of pace back there to either combat the physically better opposition or to have in the side to help mop up after other mistakes might be crucial.

I'd like this one to go through as he's always seemed pretty decent to me.

Pretty solid defender who is comfortable on the ball which is something you probably need in the Premiership.

Not the tallest though.

Strangely my ego isn't so over inflated that I think that anything I say or do is an encouragement to the club to buy anyone!

As to Mariappa, if the club staff feel that he adds something then I will go with it until he proves otherwise. I am certainly not ready to be a doom monger before the fixture list has been released!

Need 4 good centre backs; Gorkss, Pearce, Morrison and Mariappa would fit the bill. We then have the highly rated Hector just underneath and probably Matthew Connolly who can cover any one of the back four positions
