Royal Lady See, I said Gylfi and Defoe. I wouldn't rule Long out either....

Is the Ugo Ehiogu deal off then?

Yes. He wanted too much money m8 - so we told him to do one.

Come to AE again and I'll let you in on what I know....

Did anyone else explode in a massive pile of jizz upon hearing that we have actually submitted a bid for Gylfi?

Let's be realistic tho...... defoe wont come (surely a big club will get wind of a loan - newcastle, villa, everton?), gylfi can go to a much bigger club and probably will... shane coming back sounds likely if it's true his mrs wants to return to Reading.

We'll get Butterfield not Gylfi, and a foreign unknown instead of defoe.

But god bless us for showing some balls.

I am desperate that we get Gylfi back and as I said a few pages back I would be astounded if we had not at least tried to do so. He would give us a whole new dimension that we don't have in the squad at the moment and there are very few players that have that ability.

Defoe I am not so sure about. Is he a Reading type player? Great scoring record no doubt but he does have a bit of a reputation. I would see this as an either or as I am not sure we would need Defoe if we had Siggy. I cannot see them working so well together whereas Siggy and Roberts and possibly even with Hunty could work well and then ALF off the bench if we need goals at the end of a game.

Unfortunately I fear this is what will happen, and if so then hey ho. As you say at least we have grown a pair at last! Would love to be wrong though!

If Sig signs, we won't need goals at the end of a game!

If a top 8 club come in for him then he will sign for them. Anybody else and I think he'll sign for us. Thankfully we've got our bid in relatively early. I think it could take a few days for Liverpool to get a bid together, all Rogers has to do is give Gylfi a ring and tell him to hold off for a few days to join him at Liverpool and that will be that though. It all hinges on whether Rogers wants him.

And whether Gylfi wants to go to Liverpool.

He must consider the possibility that Rodgers might not be there by the end of next season and he might not be wanted by any incomer. He KNOWS McD and the fans love him and want him - that counts for a lot!

You make a good point, but then look at QPR. you'd have thought many of this players (Cisse, Wright-Phillips, Zamora, Taiwo, and yes, even Barton) could've gone to more 'established' clubs. Their approach is not the right one IMO but it does show that if you have balls you can pull off a big signing occasionally.

I am not convinced about this. Gylfi could get lost at Liverpool as they have a lot of quality players already. If he wants to shine surely being the best player in a team like RFC would be the way to get noticed. I think he would fit in much better at Man U or Arsenal and he stands more chance of that if he gets a hatful of goals with us. I think this might have been his logic in joining Swansea.

Defoe wants to stay in or around London though.........so really West Ham and QPR would be more believable, than Newcastle, Everton, Villa

Find it hard to believe personally - unless a clause was written in when we sold him and I doubt we did that.

Don't see why we would've put one in. When we sold him it looked extremely unlikely we'd be where we are now.
