Swansea Away - 1992 perhaps - Uwe Hartenberger with a late equaliser. Severn Bridge got closed - i managed to get over before that happened but i dont think many made it in the ground that Friday night!!

I was there that night, didn't a steward nick the sheep from the top of the goal net?

and as I recall the coaches arrived some time after half time ..and fans got aharged full price.

I was on one of the coaches and we did arrive near half time, if I remember rightly it was the night Lewis fought Bruno in Cardiff.

Anyone remember a Reading fan called Bunyan? He was there - he used to go to lots of games at this time. Anyway, probably about 50 people there.

Not sure if its the same guy, but sounds like a guy who used to make drawings in a note book of all the action points, like stick men drawings. Seriously wierd. He stopped going completely out of the blue in the early 90s but think he still goes again now. He never missed a game back then.

That's the one. The inflatable sheep was not appreciated that night. Loved the vetch field.

Yes. They had to stop the traffic while they separated the pair of them on the motorway.

I always presumed that was the reason the coaches were late anyway.

That's the one. The inflatable sheep was not appreciated that night. Loved the vetch field.

The coaches turned up with 1/2 an hour to go. The traffic on the detour was a nightmare. Those who went over the bridge said there was only about 1/2 an hour delay.

Luckily both sides were decent enough to wait until we'd got there before scoring.

A few fans had a right strop about paying full price, but generally they were the same whingers who moaned about paying full price if they didn't get a comp.


We played Peterborough away one year when it was stupidly foggy, and there can't have been many more than 100 there. We lost 3-5, and Jim Leighton was none too pleased to be hit on the side of the head from a shot in the pre-match warm-up.

I'm sure that Leyton Orient autoglass trophy game mentioned earlier was a 1-1 daw. Oddly, I always thought Brisbane Road looked exactly the same with 1000 people in it as when there was 4000.

Ha ha, I remember that game as I mssed two of our goals - firstly Stevie Richardson's (fcuking hen's teeth and all that) standing in the pie queue and the penalty having a piss.

David Lee scored the third I think - great strike He was too good for us.

Wasn't a particularly small attendance for that time. 300 ish I think.

In the 80s when I went to every game, home and away (or near as damn it) you would recognise all the supporters - there were a pair of of very large blond twins that used to go - either they've lost weight and I don't recognise them anymore, or they've stopped going. Been to loads of games where we only took 1 coach. Do they still have a collection for the driver, even though you've paid a coach fare?

If the score was 0-0, I would have been at that game. I remember sitting at the back of the coach playing cards...and that was the highlight of the day!

It was 0-0 yes. My day was notable by asking the programme seller why there was a picture of a monkey being hanged on the front page. The look I got!

Other characters I remember are a couple of blokes who used to go together regularly. One looked like Morrisey with a wasting disease and had his own "individual" clapping style; his mate had dyed black hair and had permanently lost his voice and spoke with a croak. Top blokes both of them and a fixture on the South Bank.
