Euro 2012 - Group Stages

Poland v Greece

Let's 'av it, then, how do you think the opening game will pan out? Hosts kick off the tournament with a win, or the 2004 champions grind out a dull 1-0?

Greece have only lost once since the last World Cup (to Romania), but then they haven't played anyone of real note, the exception maybe a 2-0 win over Croatia. They don't concede many and were unbeaten in qualifying.

Likewise Poland are on a good run with 5 wins and a draw in their last 6, last beaten 2-0 by Italy, they don’t let many in either.

All points at a 1-1 draw for me.

Do we really need a thread for each game?

Each matchday maybe (ie the first set of fixtures, then 2nd set, then 3rd, then q/f, semi, final) but this will just spam the board

Russia v Czech Republic

With the dinnertime kick off and following the opening match, it's difficult to imagine any game will get lower viewing figures than this one.

The Czechs lost to Hungary in their final warm-up game, and look short of the sort of talent that carried them deep into major tournaments in the 2000s.

Russia haven’t lost since they were beaten by Iran in February last year, and have only conceded 4 goals in the 14 games since then. They should have enough to win this one quite comfortably.

2-0 Russia.

Really? - personally think the Poland one will get less as most people will be either at work or on their way home from work

Looking forward to seeing Russia actually.

I think it'll be 1-1 in the first game and Russia to win 2-0 in the second game.

Poland to win 2-0
Russia to win 3-1

Do we know what ball they're using? I take it it isn't as round as the jabulani.

 'It's tricky for the keepers with this racism going all over the place'.

The coverage has started and Shearer is grinning like a simpleton.

Is it just me or do opening ceremonies just seem a tad pointless?!

I mean, DJ Palmatronic :?

Usually they are pretty spectacular, but that was just pure shite!

That DJ and his europop were the funniest bit until the pianist started doing really terrible keeps uppies. The rest of it looked like it belonged in a kids tv show.
