Pompey fans think he's heading up a consortium to buy Pompey! So the sources of a guy in the pub said to his mate apparently last night.

Toon Toon Blue army So why exactly was he sacked?

Him and Levy never saw eye to eye anyway but i reckon he asked for either (a) bigger transfer fund or (b) a massive pay rise

It probably went something like :

DL - You were top 4 for most of the season but then won oxf*rd all and didn't get into the Champions League

HR - You didn't give me enough to spend. I will this year, but I'll need these players [hands over shopping list]

DL - oxf*rd Off

He apparently appointed Paul Stretford as his agent a few weeks ago to demand a new contract from Tottenham and has generally been throwing his w8 around for a while. He constantly mugs Levy off by making comments about not selling their best players etc and I think Levy has finally had enough, particularly with the courting of the England job and the failure to get third spot.

Redknapp certainly won’t do badly out of it, but what a fall from grace since that 5-0 win over Newcastle.

Spurs should cash in on Bale and Modric whilst they still can.......for some reason i think they will only be average under a new manager

yep

he gave it the big 'I am' but when push came to shove it turned out that he just basically wasn't very good. that Spurs squad is essentially as good as any in the country - certainly better than Arsenal - and he dind't have a clue how to get the best out of them when it mattered

TBM Well he's not going to come out and say "yeah im going to get sacked"

He'll take a job abroad on a massive pay rise, so really he has the last laugh

I can't see that - Sandra will put her foot down! They love the homelife too much.

The effect of heart / court / England may well have been a factor in that. Distraction from the job in hand for him and the players.

Under H, after sales and purchases, Spurs spent 11m on transfers, probs loads on wages mind.
Finished 8th, 4th, 5th and 4th, last season would probably have been 3rd had the England position not upset the harmony, twice recorded their best ever points total in the Prem, a trip to Wembley and Champions League football, he also moulded a very good side who were, at times, a delight to watch, i cannot see for one monent how he's just an average manager, yes he throws money at clubs, but he always gains success

As I said at the time, a half decent manager would of stopped the England speculation affecting the team

Even Martin Jol got Spurs to 5th.

Really pleased 'Arry got sacked and double pleased he didn't get the England job. Absolute grade A helmet of a man.

You’re right there, Spurs have spent a fukkload on wages, the net spend figure for transfers is a big red herring.

Redknapp did well overall at Spurs, but his inability to build on getting them into the Champions League a couple of seasons ago has ultimately cost him his job.
