Looks to be confirmed tomorrow at the latest.

Huge signing for us and a massive signal of intent that we are here to stay!

35k a week is a bit scary but he certainly looked great value last season and I for one am seriously excited as to the partnership he and Roberts will have.

Rather bemused by all of this.

I don't think AZ going to have a little chat with The Pog or offering to have a chat with The Sig is quite the same as Roman appearing at Chelsea's training ground at Cobham with a 6.5ft box with a bow which Jose (or whoever it was) unwrapped to reveal Andrey Shevchenko, a player he neither wanted or needed.

I think there may be a little bit of plot being lost here and negativity override going on. The inference seems to be The Pog was available, NH and BMc were interested, a deal is put in place and AZ has a little chat as a final nudge over the line. If AZ had taken all power away from NH and BMc, I can't see him hanging out in Nottingham and chasing Gareth McCleary? BMc has spoken about signings being in the pipeline, at what point do we know if this wasn't one of the ones he was referring to?

loyalroyal4life £35k apparently which sounds much more reasonable, sure the finer details will come out in due course but i for one think this is a great signing!!!

Splash some transfer fees on couple of defenders instead!

£35K would be a relief. The higher figure was very worrying and certainly didn't support the statements of continuing to do things 'the Reading way'.

Yes, I have said that we should be prepared to pay higher wages but always maintained that should be within reason. We should be competitive and not try to single-handedly buck the economics of the PL but at the same time we shouldn't go to obscene levels and personally I think £65K a week falls into that category.

I believe very few people merit that level of reward and sports people probably wouldn't be amongst them. So what if the career is short - should they really be exempt from needing to work again in any capacity after that?

If he's a fellow 'RR' ambassador he's letting you down a bit.

LanercostRoyal There must be a shop in Russia that sells only fantastically hot women, because both Pog and AZ have been shopping there...

If you've ever been to that part of the world, you'd realise that everybody there has a sexy young wife. You have to look hard to spot one who isn't attractive.

No idea what happens to the women once they get into their 30s though, as the hot/minger ratio, pretty much at 100% for the younger ones, flips almost entirely the other way once they are 40.

I did think about phoning them up as a Sham fan and saying Nicky Maynard was available. See how long it took them to realise while talking to his agent that he was actually their player!!! :D

Norfolk Royal
Simon's Church Doesn't bode well when the owner starts stepping on the DoF's toes and jumping into player negotiations.

Don't necessarily agree with that. You have to use any lever you have and if Anton's intervention was the deciding factor and BM and DoF were agreed he was a player we wanted, then I don't really see a problem.

Agree, if you have a new owner with a vision that just happens to be of the same nationality and possibly a fan of an old club of the player. Why on earth would you not get him involved in selling the club to the player?

I'd say not involving Anton - when he's so passionate and interested, would be criminal.

The owner of a club taking an interest and doing what they can to help?

SICK FUCK.
