There are two main reason of Pog signing.
First: we need strikers to be signed and one of them should be Pog type of the striker. He is not creative player at all, not a Brazil type. More like the bulldozer type of striker suitable both for long ball games to support smart partner in front or single striker game for counter attack games.
Second is to promote the RFC at the Eastern Europe (like it was with Americans or Koreans). One year ago, for example, only few persons were aware re RFC, but after take over a lot of TV match translation and press articles were presented, and more and more people start to show interest in RFC. I’ve got call yesterday from my partner in Russia and he asks me to buy shirt with Pog name and send him.

My take on the wages situation. My dad is a Blackburn fan (don't ask) and he was telling me about the wages they were paying their players.

My jaw dropped. They had like 6 or 7 players on 50,000 or more. That's what the prem's all about folks. 35k for Pogrebnyak is actually a decent wage for such a good quality player that comes with a great reputation.

This is a good deal. Hopefully he fits in well. I don't see this being a problem what with the affable AZ on board. Wonder what his English will be like?
