Ian Royal Idiot. Idiot. Idiot. He's been utter turd all tournament.

By the way, I've watched two other pen shootouts this season, both teams to miss first won.

The amount of times this happens is scary!

Blessing in disguise, saves us from being utterly raped by the Germans.

I'm sure the instructions were for Rooney and Welbeck to close down Pirlo because they very clearly started off that way. They just didn't / couldn't carry it on so basically gave up trying.

LoyalRoyalFan Massively pissed off.
understandably

But nothing more than we expected pre-tournament...and we only lost on a lottery (as we always do)

Roy is binning the "old guard" and is not scared of playing the yoof

Look forwards towards the 2014 World Cup

That was actually a tad embarrassing.

Fair result.

As RR says, well done Hodgson for getting them to the quarters. Far further than most expected.

I wonder how long it'll be until the knives come out in the red-tops though?

I'd like to see Portugal win it now. Tough ask though.

Ashley Young has been embarassingly bad all tournament. Roy's one blind spot seems to he him. Completely obvious he was going to miss.

5th, 6th, 7th in the world, Shearer says? Maybe.

But there's a huge huge gap to close.

Ideal Hodgson gambled on the penalty shootout, he kept Young on simply for the shootout. Yet it was Young who failed.
Shame.

Really?
I think we were happy to let him.

Italy missed what.... 3 decent chances? maybe 4? For all the possession we let them have.

I was fairly happy with half that team play.
Getting a decent striker and a decent forward (GET RID OF F*CKING ROONEY) would have helped. Radio slaggin off our 442 mentality. Aside from Young, the 4-4 was half decent. The "2" let us down badly

Him and Rooney were utter, utter tripe today.

When they did get a break, they always broke down through over-keeping the ball and indecision. Young was dreadfull at keeping the ball while defending

Hoop Blah See, Cassano and Balatelli just don't give me much of a fear factor. Decent players of course, and Pirlo is still a clever player, but not the threat he was a few years back from what I've seem of him.

Hope Roy and his boys think the same (although I doubt it) then we stand a better chance from the start.

Cassano and Balotelli will give Terry and Lescott nightmares with their movement, always thinking a few steps ahead, always on the move and attacking from all angles.

As for Pirlo, he dominated the midfield against a Spain team that had the Barcelona quartet and has laid on 3 of Italys 4 goals (assisted 2, scored 1) so not the same threat?

I only see us being weak in defence when comparing our team with England, seeing as our best defender is likely out of the game with an injury (Chiellini) although it looks like Barzagli will come back so at least we have a defender for a defender replacement.

I think I will leave this here ^ :)

Ideal I thought Wellbeck and Carroll did well, rooney was just horrendous all match.

But that can't be right....... he's our one true world class player
