maffff
Maguire This may well be true but it's serious blow to their credentials if it turns out he's signing for a club they said he hadn't even spoken too.

Not really. Things move so quickly.

Possible scenario chaps. THFC are in talks for a new manager, the rumours are already on record that Mod and VDV may want away. A deal is agreed with A N Other but he is aware of the outs and wants someone in. Gylfi deal is almost done so THFC know they ahve to move fast and do. Thus, they have appeared out of nowhere in this scenario.

Perhaps, but @Signings_TDD said last night he was '100%' sure that Spurs were still not interested. Will be a big blow to someone who claims to be ITK to be so wrong, and he will lose lots of credibility because of it.

Just because you're ITK doesn't mean you're always going to be right. Look at the whole Tommy Smith saga. If you spoke to people ITK just an hour before the deal was hijacked you'd have said he's 100% coming to Reading. Sometimes things just change quickly or your sources are wrong. Posters/Tweeters should be judged on their whole body of work not just 1 rumour or tweet that turns out wrong.

ZacNaloen Sounds like spurs only came in over the weekend, it's doubtful the ITK people heard much new over the weekend except that gylfi was making a decision over the weekend.

If spurs then called his agent there's no reason he couldn't have done a deal whilst gylfi mulled everything over.

Plausible then that the ITK's would know nothing of that deal being drawn up.

According to Spurs fans site the deal was agreed last week and photos in a Spurs shirt were taken then. Some claim to have seen the photos, so if true looks like he has intended to go there for some time and the whole "going to Iceland to make his mind up thing" was rubbish.

This was his tweet:

I can 100% confirm Sigurdsson is not signing for Tottenham. He isn't even in talks with them. Has met Liverpool and Reading. #lfc #readingfc

As of last night. We can all forgive mistakes, but for an ITK poster to say 'I can 100% confirm' and then turn out to be wrong it will damage his credibility a fair bit.

If you don't know for sure, don't throw around words like 'confirm' or '100%'...

Good backtracking.

Makes the whole rumour mill pretty redundant in that case.

Dare to Dr£am
andrew1957
themadstad A few have written them off on here and various places. No manager, not in running etc etc. Only source confirming we'd even offered, let alone more money than Liverpool is twitter and HNA, Reading fans too. Seems that was actually Spurs makes sense in a way, he was in London before going to Iceland. Where he held his talks?

Just goes to show that all the supposedly ITK posters actually know nothing at all. They all seem very quiet now and I am waiting for some humble pie if the move to Spurs is confirmed.

Two horse race between LFC and RFC my arse!

Who of the reliable posters has said we will definitely sign Gylfi? I haven't seen one. Only that we have bid and it does seem like we have. Too many good track records on here backing eachother up for it to be wrong.

And just because we bid doesn't mean we get. We're competing against LOLiverpool and Spurs. Some people really need to wake up if they think a player will choose us over them. But to be in contention is fantastic.

I was not suggesting anyone ITK had said he was definitely coming here. The point was that the ITKers to a man siad it was a two horse race between us and LFC. Now if the Spurs story is true it is looking more and more as though we were never in the running.

However, it is interesting that FL is still implying that he does not think it is a done deal and no decision has been made. It is all very odd. Perhaps Gylfi has been having some fun at everyone elses expense and will arrive today to sign for RFC!

It's a bit of a dent yes, but again I'll go back to the whole Tommy Smith thing and that it seemed 100% certain he was joining Reading only for a late hitch. He probably shouldn't have gone 100% but then it's a bit of an overused cliche anyway.

That all happened very late though, we'd called a press conference to announce him and it all turned around in a matter of hours.

If it turns out that Spurs have been in talks with Gyfli since last week, then for this guy to claim last night, days after first contact, that they still hadn't talked to him is very different IMHO.

I don't doubt the guy has a few good sources, but you can't throw your weight around like he did last night and not expect a significant backlash if everything goes tits up.

Apparently the genuine translation of the bild report only says they want him

It's a great show of ambition that we're actually in for him BUT......

Calm down people, he wont sign for us. Spurs would be a bad move for him, they will be in decline now. He would be hero worshiped at Liverpool after a couple of months. Brendan likes one up front and he would be ideal to slot in just behind. That would be the best move for him IMO and I honestly believe Liverpool will be on the up under Brendan.

Simon Cowell has got 2.5-million, which rather knocks your thesis imho.

I think Spurs would be a bad move for him, can you imagine the fans reaction and the pressure when they find out VdV and Modric have gone and Sig's the replacement.
