Barry the bird boggler Leave this to IcelandicStokie, he'll know before any of us and he has always proven to be accurate.

Anything else at the moment is BS.

Not really, when what Gazza, maffff and FL have said on this has been confirmed by Stokie. I don't know about BigMike. He seems to know something but likes to wind people up too.

I just love the fact we're actually trying to get him and spend £7m or £8m to do it. Still a bit  but I suppose times are changing quicker here than the fans can accept.

IcelandicStokie Gylfis dad: "Gylfi was not eager or overly interested to move from Reading to Germany but the club had to sell him. Gylfi never intended to leave Reading so quickly and he never would have signed the extension if he wasnt happy."

Is this a recent quote?

In the interview this morning.

If Gylfi has any negative feelings towards RFC it would be towards SJM. Brian made it clear at the time that he would have liked Gylfi to stay - but he had no choice but to accept the cloth cutting.

I have said many times before on other threads that I think SJM's decision to sell Gylfi when he did was very short sighted. You probably get a potential world class player through your academy once in a lifetime and IMO Gylfi was forced to leave far too soon and for far too little money.

Hard to know if this would encourage him to come back to finish the job - or want to go elsewhere though.

I just would like it so much for him to come back and cannot wait for this saga to end one way or another.

Hence why the management were keen for him to speak to Anton

As I see it, this is only good news.

Would not surprise me if the delay is something to do with Gylfi waiting for confirmation of who will be manager at Tottenham. Once it's confirmed then a decision will probably be made. But at the end of the day the speculation will naturally take it's course. There is only one person who truly knows which way he will go and it's Gylfi himself.

...but that was at a time when only Hoffenheim had shown a positive interest in him and ultimately signed him....what if Liverpool or Spurs had shown an interest at the same time...would Gylfi have still felt the same..??

The Bild report is purely speculative.
It appears to have summarised the rather old headline of Gylfi agreeing to go to Swansea, only for Brendan to move to Liverpool and then Gylfi getting cold feet on the deal. It suggests he was then favourite to go to L'pool but that Spurs have now emerged as favourites to hijack the deal with an offer of 10 million Euros.

There is no further reliable information in the report. It is on a par with so many press reports (gossip) of late stating that Reading are looking to sign [insert player name here] for £x million.

Obviously, there's no smoke without fire but this Spurs thing does not appear to be any more a done deal than Gylfi going to Reading or Liverpool.

If we didn't get Gylfi to sign for us, who would we have as a back up signing in our sights do you think? Or are we just going for Gylfi because it's Gylfi and he's available do you think?

I think it is the icebreaker that Zingarevich wants/needs so early in his reign.

We probably knew there was only a slim chance that we would get him and I have no doubt we'll have been working on other targets at the same time. I would expect a signing in a similar position to be confirmed pretty soon after his move to Spurs/Liverpool is complete.

He's available, he's exceptional, he's the Sig! It's a one-off. No back up signing required as this is a unique situation.

If the worst happens and he goes to either Liverpool or Spurs, at least we will get a wheel barrow load of cash from them!

Yeah think a lot of us felt like this but we had to sell. Sadly it meant Gylfi going off too Germany. Don't know how he really felt about this.

Unfortunately, i think he's off to Liverpool! But well done to AZ and BM for giving it a good go! At least it'll be a few million to spend on strengthening with other players! 8)

It was a reluctant sale, all round.

Can't work out in my head whether this works for us or against us or has no bearing on his decision as to whether he'd make an emotional return.
