No, but I'm in. David Moyes tends to be a very good judge of character (maybe the only reason Everton are still in the Premier League, let alone at the top end) as well as our Brian. Worth a punt. Doyle came off, as did Long. Some others didnt

Oh dear I seem to be spouting forth today...........

Didn't I read somewhere that we already have a young bloke on loan in the League of Ireland?

This is exactly the sort of player we should be getting in. No expensive prima donnas.

Yes to Sweeney.

No more Irish imports until the last one has at least played one game for us.

He is only 18 according to that article above and we are already scouting him. Nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain a la Doyle and Long should we buy him.

Glad we still have McDermott and Hammond making decisions on this sort of stuff and not people like you.

i think we should not get this guy because we have a piece in our team at the back so i think we could get confused if there is one stroker too.

Rumour - Pierce Sweeney

by TFF » 04 Jul 2012 13:56

Reading look poised to sign Bray Wanderers defender Pierce Sweeney, with the deal expected to be confirmed by the club tomorrow morning.

Sweeney, who sat out last week's game against Cork City due to injury, has been the most impressive fixture of an otherwise leaky Seagulls defence this season and the 17-year-old is set for a lucrative move to the Berkshire club.

He's in Reading today to undergo a medical.

Fresh from promotion back to the Premier League, Reading also have a history of poaching some of the League of Ireland's hottest young talent.

It was they who acquired former St Pat's and Cork City striker Kevin Doyle in 2005, along with the then unheard of Shane Long.

Noel Hunt has been at the club since 2008 and he too played in the league with Shamrock Rovers and briefly with hometown club Waterford United.

Another former Hoop, Karl Sheppard is on the books at the Madejski Stadium along with former Ireland U21 Jay Tabb and stalwart Ian Harte.

Still on the lookout for Irish bargains then...

The most unpleasant-sounding name I've ever seen.

Probably a case of buy, loan to Barnet, loan to Bournemouth, loan to Huddersfield, and then get a look in

If we had any decent mods this thread would have been merged by now.
