Matt Mills to Bolton

by Geekins » 04 Jul 2012 15:12

 So famous that they don't even have the right picture of him!

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of defender Matt Mills from Championship rivals Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old former Southampton trainee has signed a three-year deal at the Reebok Stadium.

He becomes the Lancashire club's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Keith Andrews on a free transfer last week.

Mills only joined Leicester from Reading last season but despite beginning the campaign as club captain, he fell out of favour at the King Power Stadium.

The former Doncaster stopper was frozen out in the second half of the season following a reported bust-up with boss Nigel Pearson.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle was delighted with latest capture, telling the club's official website: "Matt is a player who has a high level of experience in the Championship.

"We are delighted to have made this acquisition as he adds strength and quality into the mix.

"He is 25-years-old and has already captained teams at this level, so we know what he will bring to the squad both on and off the pitch."

Shame. I was really hoping he'd come home.

In other news, another former Reading defender....

Adam Lockwood [Doncaster - Bury] Free

You probably don't remember Adam Lockwood at Reading though.

Watched my first Reading game in 93/94 against Northampton in the League Cup. In answer to your question I saw Lockwood play for the Academy a few times when they played at Cantley on a Saturday morning.

Owen Coyle showing he hasn't been watching much Championship football over the last couple of years. I look forward to following Bolton's fortunes this season to see when Coyle realises he's a retarded loose cannon.

This thread reminds me that I met a client of mine the other week who lives near where Mills lived/still has a place. He tells me that Pearson head butted Mills in his office after a game this year (think it was Away at Norwich in the cup), whereas the previous rumours were that Mills had head butted Pearson.
