Reading game you would like to watch again

by blythspartan » 07 Jul 2012 16:26

I have seen some really great Reading games over the last 40 years and also many dire games as well. There are lots of games I would love to see again like the second leg of the play off semi final against Wigan. However, If I could only choose one game to re-live it would be in the 1978/79 season when we beat Grimsby 4-0 at Elm Park and I am sure that John Alexander scored all 4 goals. That game made a great impression on me as a young Reading fan. What would be the one game that you would love to re-live?

So it belongs on the Team Board, I will have to remember that in future. I'm just a newbie having a nostalgia attack......

Remember that one well; it was a midweek game, raining like hell and John Alexander did indeed score all 4. Four superbly taken goals they were too.

P.s. Post this on whichever board you like.

It was a big game as they were right up there as well and was stood behind the Tilehurst end goal. Also think it was the first game in Steve Death's run in not conceding a goal until the end of the season.

From a performance point of view I'd go with Tranmere Away in the play-offs in 1995.

Can't agree with that.

If only because I was still suffering from a hangover from Newcastle a few days before.

When we raped West Ham 6-0 '06/'07. The team was flawless to a man.

I'd like to see the game against Tranmere where Robin Friday scored THAT goal; as the only Reading fan aged over 45 who admits to NOT having been there (must have been a 30,000 gate that day if everyone who says they were there were..............) I would love to see if it really was as good as legend has it.

I wasn't there either but I do remember all my mates telling me that I had missed the best goal ever, as they had gone to the game with the rest of Reading.

The old man claims to have been there. I'm very much inclined to believe him.
