Re: SPECULATION - Nicky Shorey

Have to say, that after the last three signings of McCleary, Pog and Guthrie this puts a bit of a downer on the summer signings a little. I really hope he proves me and a lot of us wrong but really we should be looking for a solid left back with Harte being backup. Not Harte/Shorey starting with the other as backup. But in BM I trust.

Not sure if it would work and we wouldn't do it unless we were very short on players for sure. But seeing as Harte and Shorey probably both have the two best deliverys in the squad has anyone about how a Harte - Shorey combo down the left wing would work obviously Harte being in the left back role? Shorey was very good at going forward for us wriggling his way into crossing positions.

SIGNED: Nicky Shorey

Come back to help out his old man...fingers crossed this isn't like many of the other 106ers we have had back who weren't as good anymore...maybe play with 2 left backs? (one at rightback obviously)

And everyone thought the team was crazy/stupid for signing Harte at the time...and he ended up playing an integral part in our promotion.

So welcome home Nicky. Great to see you back. 8)

Shorey knows the club, knows our style and we know what he can do......if anything he will try harder here than anywhere else just to prove he left to become a better player.

I do actually like the idea of this. I remember the uncertainty when Adrian Williams came back but that worked out OK. I guess the proof will be in how hard he is prepared to work to get back into the team I suppose.

He'll need to work hard to get the extra year added on otherwise he'll end up back in the championship. I think we'll see the hungry, hardworking shorey...at least I hope we do.

All I ask is that he beats the first man with his corners and if he doesn't manage that then that he doesn't do a smug chuckle when he gets stick

Interesting how "resigned" (rezined) and "resigned" (re signed) are spelt the same but mean very different things.

Well I thought so.

If we do see a Shorey eager to prove himself then this could be a very shrewd deal.

Look at it this way:
We originally signed him for peanuts from Orient, got him playing well, then sold him for millions (?).
Now we've got him back for nothing, and he's gained several years experience in the Premier League.
Bargain! :D

I'm sure we could make some play with 'refuse' and 'refuse' over some of our former players.

Glad to have him back. Will add some much needed pace to our back line.

Anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.
