RUMOUR - Kyle Naughton

by Salford Royal » 11 Jul 2012 09:57

In today's Guardian:

'Out the other way is defender Kyle Naughton, who will be going to Reading'.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/jul/11/football-transfer-rumours-liverpool-arsenal

Yes please.

Will just be like Clyne in the fact that he will go on to play well and his value would probably triple over one or two seasons.

Great player to get into our squad though if there is any truth behind it can't see him having much of a future at Spurs now Walker seems to of nailed his place down in the team.

Would be very happy with this - he's wasted his time at Spurs.

Season long loan?

My Norwich supporting friends would be yellow and green with envy if we signed him. :D

Would be great.

Interesting that Spurs signed Naughton and Walker at the same time from Sheffield United, with Naughton the hotter prospect - look how that turned out!

...which according to the same report would bring our total spend this summer to over £13m.

TheSiege I don't quite get this. Kyle Naughton is a good player and I'm sure, had he been the first signing of the season, all of this forum would have been pleased. However, we have now covered all of our problem positions - including the acquisition of Gunter at RB. No way, surely, are we going to have a 25-man squad consisting of three RB's. Potentially, we have three problem areas in terms of depth, CB, Creative Midfield and Striker. Given those areas, why would we buy another RB - however good?

i don't get it either. it's almost as if the papers are talking absolute shit. :?

I'm going to shoot the next person that says we need a creative midfielder.

*This isn't me. It's merely a representation of what I'll look like if someone says we need a creative midfielder.

TheSiege
WE NEED A CREATIVE MIDFIELDER OR A PERSON TO WHOM WE COULD GIVE A FREE ROLE!!!!!!! Being a defender is good! Being an attacker is good! Being Lionel Messi is brilliant!! Show me a man who thinks that we don't need a creative midfielder and I will show you a man who wants us to buy Emile Heskey - YES, that moronic!!!

We don't, its obvious to me that we are looking to play 4-4-2 much how we played last year. We have 2 forwards able to hold up the ball in Pogrebnyak and Roberts which will be our main outlet.

We didn't need an attacking midfielder last year and unless Brian wants to change the whole style of football that we play then we will stick to what got us promotion.
